Empire building vs country defense.
I, for one, would like to see the permanent end of empire building that Poppy started, and it needs to end right now with Obama.

I'm in agreement with most of the posters here - we are not the world police.

I think Chimp has watched too much of this.

It's time to roll back all FOB's (Germany, Turkey, Israel, Diego Garcia, Kazakhstan, etc.)

Recall all the troops out of the war zone. Let their own country deal with their own issues.

Cut the defense budget 90%, and re disburse it for the infrastructure, stimulus, economy, education, and employment.

Department of Defense is to be restricted to COUNTRY DEFENSE AND NATO/UN REQUEST ONLY.

We should fix our budgets by 2013, if it was done right now.

Will Obama get the fucking message and do it?

1. Cut Defense entitlements 90%!?
Neither of the two "Empire parties" would be willing to do that...

3. But there might be someone in a cave in a rock-laden country...
halfway around the world that hates us and wants to do us harm. Let us spend everything we have to conguer that enemy. :sarcasm:

4. With the breakup of the Soviet Union the world was left
at the time with only one Super Power
checks and balances were lost
this left the US with no one to stop their
Empire building

5. I have been seeing the war machine in a different way.
The occupations by this country are based on exploitation and profit first.

There have been battles that ensue from hatred and out of violent aggression.

We are seeing the results of business and how it fuels a way of life that many of us participate in willingly or out of ignorance. You don't get world peace when you conflate hatred and violence with profit and wealth as a motivation. In this case, the violence is a product of feeding the Empire and the results are what they have been calling collateral damage.

6. Agreed that defense needs to be cut down between 70%-90%
Our military forces are being used to protect the elites' resources, not for this country's security. Too wasteful IMHO
