Shootings kill one, wound seven (I have a funeral to go to)

While at the "We Are One" rally this afternoon I found out a young lady I've known since her freshman year of high school was shot and killed in her home last night. Larceeda was a starter on the North High Basketball team that played in the class A (the largest class) state finals 3 straight years. She was a wonderful person. I haven't seen her in a few years now. This makes no sense at all.

A 25-year-old woman was killed Sunday night in an outbreak of shootings — four in less than 24 hours — that also left seven people injured in Omaha.

Larceeda McIntosh died after being shot in her home at 2753 Newport Ave. about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. A man reportedly stood in the driveway and shot into the house, killing McIntosh and injuring 25-year-old Brontea Evans.

“They say enough is enough, but this is beyond enough is enough — this is straight crazy,” said Ray McIntosh, Larceeda's father. “This is a 25-year-old girl, about to have another birthday on the 10th.”

He said his daughter had two children, ages 5 and 4, and worked at Mutual of Omaha.

“And now they're going to grow up without their mother,” McIntosh said. “A beautiful life, just taken out.”

No arrests had been made.
