that scans the votes here and I was number 65. Don't know if that's good or what. One more for Kloppenburg.

2. Here, we mark a paper ballot that's read by a scanner. |
|
If there are any challenges, the paper ballot can be recounted. Don't like it as much as a box to put the ballot in but at least there is a paper ballot. Don't know about other towns.

ANYTHING is hackable--even paper ballots counted by humans.
From what I understand about these scanners, it would take a very coordinated effort, very quietly, through decentralized voting boards and commissions, to do a whole lot of damage by altering the counts.
There is a voter verified paper trail here. Every single ballot cast in Wisconsin is cast on paper, ballots are marked by the voters, with a pen (there is a machine for the disabled, but that also marks a paper ballot which the voter or someone assisting the voter can then review for accuracy) and the paper is retained for recounts (which are done by hand). Hand recounts almost never change the outcome of the race--recounts are done automatically for very close races (I don't know the margin offhand) and can be done at the request (and upon payment) of a party for races that are further apart.

and I was number 39 in my district. I voted at 10:30 AM and I know that's early. I'm sure the after work voters will kick ass.
