5. I saw mom leave them ALONE in the nest this morning! |
|
:scared: I've never seen her do that. She would always wait for dad to come before she left. I saw eaglet #1 pecking the hell out of eaglet #2 this morning. It was so sad. The poor little thing just cowered in place and stopped trying to get to the food. I understand this is what they do, but I don't have to like it, right? :(

9. maybe that's a good thing |
|
you fight and neither of you get anything more...
The info on there says this pair seems to have had good luck in the past with their young not killing/starving each other.

This time, I saw #1 start to go to sleep and I thought dad was going to then feed #2 since it wasn't getting bothered, but then he flew off!
I think this is dad minding the nest again now.

I won't watch any more now that it's getting to the brutal stage between the eaglets. :(

The info on there says this pair seems to have had good luck in the past with their young not killing/starving each other, but I guess that is the norm (not all surviving because of the fighting).

14. Yes. All of them rarely survive, from what we've been told. They peck each other, |
|
the strongest gets the food and the weaker/pecked one usually won't survive. I know I won't be able to watch that either. They're just to cute to watch die. I can't do it.

15. Did you see the BP ad????? |
|
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 10:57 AM by CoffeeCat
I am ready to hurl a lung!
I appreciate you posting the link to the eagles. I'm a big fan and I'm also from Iowa, so this is wonderful.
However, did anyone else have to watch a PR-shame-of-an ad from BP before you were able to watch the eagles?
The ad was a 30 second commercial touting how effectively BP cleaned up the oil spill and returned life, the seafood, the economy and the Gulf back to its original condition. The ad featured two, young Gulf-area restaurant owners who said that they were, "back to serving Gulf seafood" as images of seafood plates were placed on tables.
OH please!!!
This makes me so sick! The organization responsible for bringing us the footage of these amazing eagles, has done so to promote ecology and to teach people about the importance of a clean and healthy environment--for people and for the eagles.
Anyone else just a little put off by this ad? Anyone else see the ad?

27. Yes, the ad comes up before the live stream starts... |
|
...immediately when you get on the page.
If you hit refresh, the page plays an ad, then the eagle live stream is shown.

Now I really worry about it getting back to the mom. Seems to be having some problems getting back to her.
Is the other one still under mom? She's moving around like crazy!
*E* Nevermind, the eaglet is now back under it's mom!
