Am I missing some crazy story out of China?
I got home just now and couldn't get firefox or IE to work. As soon as I put on my proxy I got internet without an issue. The only story I found was that shitpiles of Chinese fugitives were fleeing to British Columbia, Canada. Is that why my internet is fucked? Did North Korea Nuke something or what?

6. Nah, they wouldn't block for that
THey consider that pride. The last time I had this issue was when the Urumqi riots happened. It could just be a tech problem at my apartment. But I wonder if something big didn't happen tonight somewhere.

4. I did a search on Google News
Apparently, China is mad at S. Korea for spying on N. Korea. Just a lot of blabber, but nothing serious.

9. Hmm.
That seems minor, but if you did a search in the free world... that's all I can think, must be an issue here technically

10. I heard Hu Jintao and the rest of the govt. are playing TF2 against the govt. of Taiwan and...
...didn't want to have a bad ping during the match.

Kidding aside, though- in similar situations just do the "We're fucked, ShitShitShit, Here we go!" test: If you go into General Discussion and more than a third of the threads are titled either "We're fucked", "ShitShitShit" or "Here we go!" thread, do not bother reading any further- dive directly into the nearest steel bathtub and wait 30 minutes, preferably filling it with cold water during that time.
