10. It's the budget and the politics the R's are engaging in - it's going on now. I'd
sure be pissed if I had his job. I heard someone (with the CFR!) say no President has been hit with so many disasters and problems as Obama has. It seems that when something happens, something else comes along to kick him down again. And, when we're screaming at him to "deal with it!" we're also screaming at him to deal with everything else. I don't for the life of me know how he takes it, and I swear, if I were he, there's no way I'd want to re-up for another 4 years.

4. The budget negotiations. Saying they have met Boehner exactly where he began discussions and
now Boehner is backing away saying it isn't enough. Obama defending the serious approach the WH/Dems have taken with the process and that the GOP has derailed and focused on ideological battles rather than getting things done.

23. He's talking a good game, then
We'll see if there's any pep to go with the rep. There's a track record here, and while I really and truly hope that things are different this time, I've seen far too much self-negotiation to be sanguine. Yes, budget negotiations started with giving away the store, and making all the cuts the Republicans demanded. Then - and I'm sure this was a big surprise - the Republicans said their demands weren't enough. "Smoke and mirrors" is what I heard on the Nooz. Well, if it was just "smoke and mirrors," why was that the Republican proposal?

Now, when the Republicans have taken our coat and come back for our shirt, Obama is talking like that's too far. Will his actions back up his words, or will he be standing there in his undershirt come Friday?

6. The Republicans' refusal to actually negotiate on the budge -- he's reiterated
3 times so far that Speaker Boehner proposed $73 billion in cuts, they've got the cuts, but they still won't agree.

It's going on now.

Being a fly on the wall would've been pretty awesome.

No Boehner is up and wiggling around hedging his comments so he doesn't look like an ass to the teabaggers or look like a moron compared to what Obama just says. He's lying blatantly.

I agree that you probably wouldn't want to see him pissed off. He's normally a calm and collected individual (how he does it...I'd love to know). Those are the people that completely bust open when they finally reach the breaking point.

$73B, the level Boehner began at in the first place. It's garbage and Boehner is getting squeezed between the WH and the teabaggers. Definitely a tight spot. He's gonna get screwed. It's like that garbage pit in Star Wars that closes in, except Boehner is gonna get smashed.

Jesus. It should be so easy to show all the revenue we're NOT getting due to the tax cuts and breaks the wealthy and corporations are getting.

34. They do it all the time - it's almost as though when a new "hammer-it-home-
talking-point" is agreed on, they get subliminal messages while they sleep so they can awaken the next day spouting (spewing) the current 'gotcha' jab.

Luntz IS good at what he does, and they ARE good about all falling in line and repeating it endlessly. That's what too many people will remember.

I hate to sink to that level, but I wish we had a similar wordmeister and a similar cohesiveness -- at least when big issues like this are in the spotlight.

His bipartisan bullshit failed, and he needs to own up to that and fight. He spent two years telling us Republicans are honest brokers. They are not. To say so is to lie. The bipartisan fantasia was a massive failure. It needs to end. Not seems like, not I think, he needs to draw the line.

And although I already hate them (even though I don't know what they are), I'll support them because I'm supporting the Dems and I don't want a government shutdown. (Not that it matters whether I support them or not, Obama hasn't asked for my advice. :7)

37. Could be something that neither side is talking about: I remember a couple of weeks
ago that the WH announced 40 billion in military cuts. If you add that to the 33 billion that dems have said they are willing to cut, you get 73. Could be that.

I think dems are doing a very poor job of messaging...not talking about the 40 billion already cut, not talking about deficit reduction via HCR that's done, not talking about the deficits run up under Bush and how those have hamstrung us in planning, and NOT TALKING ABOUT RAISING TAXES ON THE RICH. All of us are probably thinking the same thing...that they aren't talking about these because these are reasons not to compromise further and we know they are going to compromise further.

I'm no longer a fan of Obama in the way that I am a fan of Bernie Sanders. Of course I will school any bagger that talks shit, and I will support Obama in 2012.

I didn't see the press cooker today, but I thought that his Libya address was well done. I oppose the Libya mission, but still thought that Obama sold it very well.

46. The difference, in my opinion, between the Libya presentation and this, was
this time you almost got the sense that Obama had stormed out of his office, disgusted with the how the meeting went, and blew into the press room to let the people know what dicks the Republicans were being. Of course, big dramatization on my part, but he seemed to be more extemporaneous, less res hearsed, and sincerely fed up. More 'real'. Worth watching.

And nobody holds a candle to Bernie - I'm a big fan, too. :hi:
