Appreciate moments of sheer contentment as they come.
I was just driving home in the rain with my three children. Not one of us has the same taste in music so there is generally a bit of a tussle over control of the radio. Patiently taking turns becomes essential to safe driving.

We're nearing home when the first two notes of a song come on the current station. Fourteen year old reaches over for the volume dial as the ten year old shouts, "turn it up" and the seven year old squeals, "yes!"

All three of them begin belting out the lyrics. My teenager's off-key amazingly deep voice, blending with the ten year old's cracking warble and the seven year old's still babyish tones. Their singing only interrupted with a plea for me to turn the corner and take the long way so the song can finish.

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one.

It's enough to get a mother through another day of dirty laundry, telling lies and fighting below the belt.

. Oh, and I'm talking about the GOP, not my kids.
