1. Look at the bright side:
By then Sarah Palin will no longer be President.

5. Good advice - ever try to have sex while the game is on?
Very distracting.

6. No alcohol, and no hooking up - same sex or extra marital sex!
And this is supposed to be a football game?!

Why did FIFA pick a country with such blatantly discriminatory laws (against gays) but even more importantly a country that bans drinking (and casual hook ups)??? As the date draws nearer and footie fans have to actually contemplate spending that much money to go to Qatar, those issues (the drinking one being the bigger one) will play a big part in ticket sales from outside Qatar.

Even more so, how is Qatar going to handle the inevitable crowds of topless fans in that heat? Beatings by the religious enforcers isn't going to go well....

7. a lot of irony in this
Considering FIFA's campaign against racism, I find it incredibly ironic that they would select a country that outlaws gay sex. By the way, I'm not sure about Russia's laws about this, but 2 years ago during the Eurovision contest, in Moscow "a gay pride march...was violently broken up by local police...Moscow's gays held their pride march alongside Eurovision precisely because they knew the police would come down upon them with the force of a thousand violins."

Here's a link to a story about that:
http://www.queerty.com/can-2010s-eurovision-song-contest-match-last-years-anti-gay-revelry-20100528/

So...it would seem that this year FIFA has selected two incredibly anti-gay locations for the World Cup. Very, very disturbing. I would also say it erases any credibility they have with regard to their campaign against racism. They reward one kind of bigotry while campaigning against another.
