Theft victim receives thank you note (and flowers) from robber in RI
This is not a joke...

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. -- A woman who was the victim of credit card theft got a thank you note from the person who took her information.

“They can break the law, rob people and then insult them on top of that,” said Stephanie Marisca, in disbelief.

Insult to injury. A thief not only charged $2,400 to a Narragansett woman’s credit card, but then went online, order $65 worth of flowers and had them delivered to her Clarke Road home.

“Sending the flowers, rubbing it in her face - I think that’s horrible,” said a woman.

1. Real banksters dispense with cards and flowers
although you've already paid for them...

4. My state of origin is so unbelievably quirky.
The thief probably actually thought he was being gallant.

I'm sure he bragged to his buddies about it.

totally nutz

5. It'll be easy to track down the thief & when they do, I hope there's a follow-up article.
I'd like to see the thief's humiliation.

6. They do not do anything.
I recently had my pin # for my debit card hijacked. I even provided an email address for the perp. They did not seem interested in going any further. I did get credited but the money was in the vapor for like two to three weeks. It is just too much trouble and costs too much to track them down and prosecute. They simply pass the loss on to us eventually in higher fees and minimum balances and so forth.

7. I'm so sorry, nykym. My sister had the same thing happen to her when she ordered a
Christmas present years ago. The out-of-state merchant was very viligant & helpful in tracking down the thief. Frankly, I'm not sure what happened beyond that because I was just relieved my sister had the bank on her side & she wasn't held responsible for the stolen charges.

In this article's case, it seems too easy for the thief to be tracked, & thanks to his obnoxious note & the media coverage, the chances of his being sought after & punished are much greater.

9. I hope that the thank you note wasn't via email because if so,
the scam is continuing from the moment the email was opened. nt

10. A girl at work got her identity stolen
and they even called her on her cellphone and threatened her --with the police right there.
