Dear Debbie WS. Are you going to "stamp feet" if a party breaks DNC rules?
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 05:27 PM by madfloridian
Heh heh heh, I remember when she went on TV and ridiculed Howard Dean for insisting the parties obey the rules of the DNC.

I remember it well. Video from CNN at the link. What will she do if states move their primaries?

Wasserman Schultz about Dean. "stamp feet and insist that rules were broken"

From August 2008

She mocks Howard Dean's insistence on rules being followed. Right after Suzanne Malveaux shows a clip of Dean talking about how it is his job to see that rules are followed Debbie WS uses the words "stamp feet and insist that rules were broken."

She also in the video talked of Florida's "raw nerves." Yeh, a lot of us had a lot of raw nerves about then. She said all the talk about the "rules" were counter productive.

I will be watching to see in case someone tries to move up their primary again. Heard they might try it in Florida again. Me, I don't care when it is....but I want consistency.

And I want to remind her that if you are chairperson of the party..you do NOT support the Republican candidates in your area.

Wasserman Schultz and Kendrick Meek...you reap what you sow when you don't support your own.

Republican uses his Democratic friends while campaigning in a church.

Attention in the camps of Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Kendrick Meek. This is what you get from your failure to be fully on board the campaigns of your Democratic colleagues. Your Republican incumbent friends will use your names – your Democratic names – in their desperate attempts to fend off strong electoral challenges.

...."He doesn’t say he is endorsed by Wasserman Schultz and Meek, but he says – untruthfully, but what the heck – that they’re not supporting his opponent, Joe Garcia. And it’s because they are his “dear friends.” And “I work with them.” They are his “colleagues.”

And, he says, they’re “getting a lot of criticism” for this. Who’s criticizing? He says with a deprecating gesture that “some groups” are doing it. Hey, bloggers. He’s talking about us. This blog. DailyKos. We are his “some groups.”

Here is part of a rough transcript he has put up.

"… who are dear friends. Who are getting a lot of criticism by some groups because they are not from the party that I'm in. And yet they refuse to help my opponent. Not that my opponent may not be a good guy, or (inaudible) on the issues. Because I work with them. These two colleagues are, one of them is Debbie Wasserman Schultz, from north part, center part, actually like Broward and above. The other is our own Kendrick Meek."

You will make a great DNC chairman. Just remember your job now is to fulfill the wishes of the president.

And that is exactly the reason Howard Dean would not have taken the job if he had been asked on bended knee. He said it was too political when there was a Democratic president.

I remember we won in 2006 and 2008. We did not win in 2010.

There's a message of some kind there, don't you think?

11. Well, Dean is a Democrat, so am I.
And I don't think she should have ridiculed the chairman on national TV. And she and Kendrick should have supported Democratic candidates instead of the Republicans in Florida.

8. No doubt she's a good leader, but she pushes the wrong stuff more often than not.
Unfortunately people here see her as a progressive hero.

12. I tend to agree.
She sounds more progressive on TV, but when you come right down to it...she positions herself with the conservative leadership of the party.

...I certainly hope not.

Here are more details from 2008....the Diaz Balert brothers and Ros Lehtinen.

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/1909

"This time around, Wasserman Schultz and Meek say their relationships with the Republican incumbents, Reps. Lincoln Diaz-Balart and his brother Mario, and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, leave them little choice but to sit out the three races.

''At the end of the day, we need a member who isn't going to pull any punches, who isn't going to be hesitant,'' Wasserman Schultz said.

The decision comes as Democrats believe they have their best shot in years to defeat at least one of the Cuban-American incumbents with a roster of Democrats that include former Hialeah Mayor Raul Martinez, opposing Lincoln Diaz-Balart; outgoing Miami-Dade Democratic party chair Joe Garcia, opposing Mario Diaz-Balart; and businesswoman Annette Taddeo, opposing Ros-Lehtinen"

29. Sometimes I wonder if forces are deliberately destroying the Party.
Why would you mess with a successful thing? I think Dean would have been proactive in supporting labor in states like Michigan and Ohio where these workers were under severe attack. When the President is silent, we need partisan advocates who can step in and provide support to our fellow workers and retirees.

I have not forgotten about Wasserman-Schultz's close and friendly ties to members of the Florida's Miami Mafia. In many ways, the anti-Cuba contingent in Florida was bringing the crazy before the Tea Party.
