appointee called an office about 250 miles from where I work and was connected to voice-mail rather than a person. This started a flurry of of emails statewide and ultimately a phone call from the head person in our particular area to yours truly. I was given the following order: if one of us is the only person in the office, we have to make sure that all the phones are forwarded to another department before we can GO TO THE FUCKING BATHROOM!!! This gives trickle down a whole new meaning! I may get a note from my urologist saying that I am 63 years old, have BPH and may not have time to check that the three other phones in the office are forwarded to mine, then call the other department, tell them I am forwarding my phone, forward my phone, lock the door to the suite and get down the hall to the john. Maybe I can get disability for that. I sure as hell will mention it when I try to get unemployment. I am tempted to just piss in the wastebasket.
This particular bit of insanity caused me to GO OFF big time to the boss of bosses. I said this was "with all due respect, ridiculous." I then explained in detail all the reasons why I am quitting on May 31st. You could probably see the bridges burning all the way to Tallahassee.
Governor Twelve Boots and his minions are such arrogant shits.

2. Did you really quit? If not they can't force you to wait to go to the bathroom - you could |
|
really cause them to have to cater to you instead.

5. I actually submitted my resignation more that a week ago. It was |
|
handed back to me and I was told to submit it again on April 15th if I still felt the same way. I said I was sure the one page letter would be a two page letter in two weeks since the shit never stops. It is already two pages and I haven't even added this bullshit about the phones.

3. Scott is sure making himself popular... see this: |
|
Florida voters disapprove of Gov. Rick Scott by a 48-to-35 percent margin, says a new Quinnipiac University poll that finds the new Republican governor’s disapproval ratings have more than doubled over the last two months.
A February Quinnipiac poll showed Scott with the same 35 percent approval rating, but with only 22 percent disapproving.

12. the sorriest thing about the entire thing is |
|
prickscott just doesn't care. he has a supermajority legislature, and the governors office. the scottsuckers in the legislature have already decided to pass a bill allowing him to declare any regulations he doesn't like invalid. they are also going to allow him to appoint new judges and fire the old ones that had a few words about their gerrymandering initiative.
Floriduh is gonna turn into a shithole in short order, an unbelievable one to boot.

14. His plan is to so thoroughly wreck state goverment that he can |
|
say the only solution is to privatize everything. I know many talented hardworking people who will be getting out soon. I am sure that his policies will destroy any remaining vestige of the $100,000.00+ equity we once had in our home. Since the courts are apparently going to be operating only three weeks a month, it would be an excellent time for a strategic default.

15. that's a good way to look at it. |
|
I was hoping to do a bit better, but damn with the de regulation coming down the pike, the insurance and power rates rising to their own levels, and the jobs no where to be found, it's getting harder and harder to maintain a decent outlook.
I just don't know where to move to cause these old bones just don't like the cold anymore.

16. I moved to Florida in 1996 with Lawton Chiles as Governor and |
|
Bill Clinton in the White House. It has sure gone downhill since then. I came here from Wisconsin, it is too cold there and the political situation is just a bad.

|
take back your government. Get together, start the movement and don't let up. This Psycho governor needs to be stopped, and I really do believe that he is a sociopath and a narcissist. He has to go, and sooner, rather than later. Lou

4. Do you work for the State? I wonder if this is the appointee who is a drop-out, |
|
had two DWI's and who got the gig because his father is a lobbyist for a big donor to Scott. Either way, sounds like a dick.
You should let Rachel, Ed and Lawrence know -- and write a letter to the Editor. Let people know.

7. OMG! What if 2 of Scott's appointees call the same person at the same time. |
|
You're on the phone with one, and the other gets forwarded to voice mail. You know, "If I do not answer your call, it is because I am temporarily away from my desk or on the phone with another caller."
Actually, Scott's appointees should be at a high enough level that they would tell a secretary/assistant to get so-and-so on the phone for them. What a bunch of yahoos they must be - with not enough management experience to be famliar with basic business phone practices.
Congratulations on your pending retirement. I took early retirement 4 months after my 62nd birthday - I think it's smart to lock in the slightly lesser social security payout at age 62, because the present government could change the system drastically at any time. I'm surprised they've left that 62/early option in place this long. They could drop that, or change it to something like early retirement at 64 or 65; full social security payments at age whatever/70?. Plus they could change the payout formula. Of course they could still screw around with those of us who are already collecting social security, but that is not as likely as changing the system for future retirees.

11. I think theoretically the call would just forward from phone to |
|
phone until someone picked up. Regarding your other question, this soon to be big-wig hasn't actually started working yet and has no staff. I am sure he is the kind of arrogant prick who will have a lackey make his calls and then leave people on hold to stew a while.

17. We have a rule like that for the administrative assistants |
|
Apparently many years ago some Colonel called to speak with a Director and got voicemail. He got a bug up his ass and bitched about it, so today in the day of BlackBerry and email I'm still supposed to forward just in case someone may happen to call for my boss. Stupidest rule ever and I'm sorry I don't need a nanny if I have to go pee. And the only people people that have ever complained when they get my voicemail are the other admins that have worked there 20+ years and stuck in the mud.
