"everybody must sacrifice" --if I hear that one more time, I will throw things.
seriously, this phrase needs to go away. "EVERYBODY" must sacrifice??? who is EVERYBODY? and WHY must they sacrifice? the poor? the sick? the elderly? children? unemployed? disabled? homeless? WHAT are THEY supposed to "sacrifice"? they are already at the bottom, or sinking fast.

the MIC isn't sacrificing, the wealthy are not sacrificing, the corporations are not sacrificing ANYTHING.

so that word is plain and utter bs, and it is time that, every time that word is used, it be greeted with howls of laughter for the complete and total lie it is. quite frankly, it reminds me of the whole "life is suffering, but all will be well in the hereafter" crap that most religions preach to keep the masses sedated and oblivious to their condition.

we need to treat the "everybody must sacrifice" meme with the utter contempt it deserves, and pillory anyone who uses it. (pity that the real stocks and pillories are gone, and I really hate wasting good compost like that).

1. No shit. I don't see Wall Street, banksters, CEOs, or the rich in general
sacrificing ANYTHING. They need to PAY for the ruin they've brought upon this country.

Other than the pocket change they sent Wisconsin.

4. from them, I doubt that was even pocket change. but "everyone is mean to them" so maybe their
sacrifice is being thoroughly loathed by actual thinking, caring, real human beings.

12. I'll tell you one thing they gave up
Their ANONYMITY.They HATE that.

They were happy just pulling the strings from OFFSTAGE. All these bright lights on their histories and current affairs are KILLING them.

And that's good.

28. and your own reply is???
Here's the deal. There are some 40,000 people in the United States with the last name Koch, and that does not even include the women whose maiden name was Koch, or the people with maternal grandparents named Koch, and so on. I happen to be one of those people, although I am thinking of changing my last name to Hitler, or Phelps, or Bush, or Cheney, so I won't have to see MY OWN FUCKING NAME used as a synonym for evil 5,000 times a day.

There needs to be some other way to talk about my fake uncles without calling them "THE" Kochs. If they are "the Kochs" then what does that make me? The other white Koch? A mini-Koch? What does that make my dad? My brother? My grandfather? My great-great-great grandfather's nephew who died in Andersonville? What does it make Albert Einstein's mother? Or THE Nobel prize winner Robert? Just more secondary or tertiary Kochs?

Point is, that Chuck and Davy are not THE only Kochs in the world. They may be the most famous. After all, what is a Nobel Prize anyway? But all of us with the misfortune to have that surname probably think of ourselves as "the Kochs" or "the Koch family", so why can't those two scalawags be known as "the Wichita Kochs" or Koch Oil, or Koch Ind. or Koch Inc.?

Because otherwise, when you attack my name, you attack me, (which is a name I call myself) and my operatives will defend me, and some of my operatives are Vulcans.

30. it is interesting that you take the use of the name of the two causing so many problems so
personally. everyone knows who we mean when we say 'the kochs" or "koch brothers", and it isn't meant to impugn anyone else with that same last name. how else should they be described or named? it is, after all, their name.

7. I agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY.......
What I do when I hear this "sacrifice" bullshit is laugh and then repeat your second sentence. Until the wealthy and big business sacrifices, NOBODY should sacrifice.

ANY economic discussion that ANY of us are involved in should repeat this ad nauseaum. The wealthy and big business has had a free ride for 30 years. You want sacrifice? Start with them.

10. A good carpenter (just like Jesus) could whip up new stocks and pillories,
And, not being without sin, we will not throw stones. But decayed fruit, veggies, and the contents of my cat's litter pan, I say YEA!

But this is not sport. This must be a serious, good faith fundraising effort. $10 a bag for rotten fruit and veggies. $15 for the excrement. Bring your own rubber gloves.

Now there's a sacrifice that would whittle away that deficit.

20. Isn't it funny........
The OP opens with and talks about the "sacrifices" of the least of these... and of course, to answer the question, our sacrifice will be DEATH.

Yet, immediately the theme becomes the rich, and just become witticisms.

Yeah, I guess our deaths will be funny. Glad we can entertain.

Why must I sacrifice. I had nothing to do with how the way things got to where they are now. I was busy working hard to help this nation progress. And now it's an even bigger nightmare. When does it end?
