Tax Cuts do no create Jobs. Why Do Republicans push this myth?

I'm a small business owner here in Atlanta Ga. We have a clothing store, and have an online clothing website. Both do very well, I can tell you right now, as a business owner, as a person who comes from a family of small business onwers`. Tax Cuts do not create jobs. Tax cuts adds profits into business owners pockets. If I get another 10% Tax cut, as the republicans are planning to push, lets say it moves and wins. If my current staff is can handle the volume, there is no incentive for me to hire new employees. That is the way it works. People like myself, like my husband, as most business owners, know business fluctuates. If there is more tax cuts, like us, most people will put their money away. Why would more tax cuts mean we would be compelled to hire more people? Those cuts should be marketed for what they really are. What they are is a Safe gaurd, a safe gaurd against a recession, a safe gaurd for owners, in case we get another 2007 - 2008 recession. And do not get me wrong, a safegaurd is good for the economy. It helps no one if my business goes under. But what it does do is a larger divide between the Upper Class vs Middle Class Vs Lower class. It makes me upset to see right wing politicians telling the public this will generate jobs.

1. they push it because people believe it. people think, gee, i would like a tax cut
and tax cuts create jobs so i should get a tax cut! what they don't realize is that those tax cuts aren't for them. but somehow they think it is.

2. They push it because they can.
They get away with it because

1) The media never calls them on it.
and
2) Most Democrats (at least those in any position of authority) don't call them on it because they either believe it themselves, or don't want to risk the ire of big money campaign donors by admitting they don't believe it.

So now we have it as conventional wisdom along the lines of "Cutting defense spending makes America less safe." which will never be questioned or challenged anywhere, ever, by anyone.

3. The lobbyists who pay for their fancy lunches and golf tee times at the clubs told them so.
Repeat it often enough and politicians will parrot just about anything.

4. People like the notion of paying less taxes
And cannot correlate less taxes to less services like roads, schools, police, fire and others.

7. Tax Cuts are their bread and butter, without them they have nothing
Republicans offer the average person absolutely nothing without tax cuts. Everyone hates paying taxes, so Republicans milk that with every ounce they possibly can..Think about it. What else do they present that benefits Average Americans?

8. The myth has worked on the willfully stupid for 30 years. Why stop now?
Edited on Thu Apr-07-11 08:38 AM by HughBeaumont
Hell, they can now shit up the economy until it's almost beyond repair, blame it all on "yewn-yuns" and "workers' stupid need fer a livin' WAGE", and the public (to no one's amazement) goes along with it, blames themselves and gives corporations and the wealthy a PASS!! It's flawless!

Yeah, and also because the bought-and-paid-for Fourth Estate won't ever, EVER call them on this myth . . . if they know what's GOOD for them.

What the American public doesn't seem to get is that tax cuts will never be a substitute for a living wage job, which hasn't exactly been part of the corporate agenda for years now.

9. But tax increases can cost jobs.
My friend at work doesn't really know it but her job is on the line if the boss can't get a decent paycheck. So far we have staved him off with the reality that laying off my friend would make our lives pretty unbearable. But at some point even we would have to acknowledge things are unsustainable.

12. They want to cut taxes to give more to millionaires and to defund the government
so that there will be no regulation or prosecution of corporations as they shovel more and more millions to millionaires and billionaires. Anarchy will rule and money will make the rich all powerful. Paradise for the very few. Tax cuts makes it all possible.
