Who Will Get The Credit vs Who Will Get The Blame...... |
|
This whole government shutdown thing is being pushed by the MSM with the word 'blame' being tossed around as in 'which party will get blamed if the government is forced to shut down because of lack of agreement'.
If the MSM wanted to do right by the American people they would change the emphasis of their story to one of 'credit'. Like in - 'which party will get the credit if a government shutdown is averted'.
Make the Repugs and Dems fight for the right to be hailed as the party that "prevented" a government shutdown.
Put a 'positive' slant (prevented) on this issue versus a 'negative' slant (caused).
Maybe such a slant would spur on both the Dems and Repugs to come to an agreement so that each group can get a chance to mug the microphones to take credit for preventing a government shutdown.

want a shut down which is the teabaggers. So if the repukes allow this, they will be hand and hand with them. The democratic party is trying to keep the lights on.

3. Yep, agreed. The Repugs will be blamed because |
|
they are the ones stamping their feet and holding their breaths.

2. The last time this happened, |
|
(1996) there was a Republican Congress and a Democratic president. The G.O.P. took a HUUUUGGGGEEEEEE political hit. They lost seats in the next election.

I'm saying that the headline in the newspaper on Saturday a.m. should read " X Get Credit For Preventing A Government Shutdown" where X = either the Dems or Repugs
If the slant by the MSM was to give credit to one of the parties versus assigning blame - perhaps both parties would work harder to get this thing done - so they can grab the credit.
As long as the slant is to assign blame to one of the parties - this is a game of chicken or who blinks first.
Both parties should be vying for the chance to get credit - if they did approach it on that basis - there would be a different dynamic to end this and move past it.
As long as the MSM wants the headline on Saturday a.m. to read " X Blamed For Shutting Down The Government" both parties will continue jockeying for position not to get blamed.
Change the meme. Change the dynamics. That's all I'm trying to say here.
Or maybe I'm trying to say - if the government does get shut down - its the MSM that should get the blame.
