Is Glenn Beck a paranoid delusional schizophrenic? Or is he just evil?

"All of these things have happened before. And all of these things have been happening for a while. But now they're starting to snowball, cascade."

"...what you will see coming is going to sweep the world here, then here, and here. And it's gonna get faster and faster."

"Tonight, I will begin, tonight and tomorrow, to tie things together and things that are happening that I believe are signs of things to come."

These sound to me like the words of a true psychotic. Is he mentally ill? Or is he just a manipulative, bigoted, greedy little man?

EDIT: IF you had to choose one or the other...

IOW, does he actually believe what he is saying, or does he know it's ridiculous and he's saying it to freak out the useful idiots?

10. I don't think he believes what he is saying
but the people who watch him believe every word. This is the real danger.

13. I think so yes
maybe when he started he didn't but this is a guy who is the opposite of Bush. Bush was a decently intelligent guy with almost no intellectual curiosity, thus his native intelligence starved and his decisions ended up uninformed and poor.

Beck is a guy with a ton of intellectual curiosity and not much of an ability to intellectually process the information he seeks in any rational or intelligent way. Thus he makes all sorts of grand leaps and associations thrown together in a hodge-podge that doesn't make much sense.

Evil are guys like Rove or Gingrich. Guys who have both intellect and curiosity and still do and put forward the things they do, knowing they are wrong but seeking the ends only.

And perhaps evil but definitely not schizophrenic.

8. Could be.
I know when manic people get too "high," they can become psychotic -- very much like schizophrenia. But I don't know about the paranoia -- that seems schizophrenic to me.

19. I think mania
also includes delusions of grandeur - beck is constantly claiming he's the only one telling the truth out there and is the only one who can save them all (trump is now taking up that banner). I honestly don't think he could handle 3 hours on the radio and 1 on tv 5 times a week if he were truly a schizophrenic not on medication.

14. He's walking proof of the old saying attributed to HL Mencken
"No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public"

Beck is a failed "Morning Zoo" radio DJ who lucked onto a profitable schtick selling fear to the hicks.

It's a formula that has worked for countless others notably pig boy rush limbaugh, but Beck took it to new heights (or depths if you will).

Of course he constantly had to top himself in the conspiracy theory department in order to provide raw meat to his audience, and by doing so he ventured far enough into looneyland to turn off the relatively sane arm of the right wing.

So I guess you'd have to say, given the choices you provide, he's evil.

17. I guess my question would be what's his life like the rest of the time?
Paranoia or schizophrenia doesn't just show up for a TV show. It's possible, I guess, for the Network scenario to play out, for Fox to prop him up enough for him to appear to function, but I seriously doubt it.

I think it's bullshit and he's taken it as far as he can.

22. I doubt anyone could be that psychotic without drooling.
I think he's just a fake, clowning for the benefit of his corporate masters.

He's not that stupid, and he's not that crazy--but he is that much of a lying whore.
