Pigs are flying. Michele Bachmann is on CNN right now making sense. |

She voted no on the Republican bill today and says there should be a "clean bill" to just keep paychecks going for the troops without riders on abortion, etc as a temporary stopgap until the whole budget deal can be worked out.

1. Oh-oh, now she will lose the teabag vote |

Boehner is in trouble. He's in over his head with this position, imo.

keep the killing going. how's it gonna look when they run out of bullets and bombs, tanks and humvees? Why don't they suspend payments to GE for all those goodies that bring bad things to life and pass them to the grunts instead?
Anybody want to bet a deal gets made and then cranked up on the tellyvision?

3. Pigs are flying, indeed |

:wow:
Now, all we need is for Sarah Palin to say something that makes sense and we'll really be living in bizarro world.

5. Are we sure it's Bachmann? |

She and common sense are usually an oxymoron.

8. So she thinks we should fund the troops and nothing else? |
|
My impression of her quote is that they should pass a troop-funding bill so that they're not part of the discussion.
Here's a crazy idea: we'd save a lot of money, way more than 30 billion, if we just stopped killing folks for a while. And if they're not getting paid for a while when they're not killing folks, well, maybe they'll pay more attention at election time.
They're soldiers, which is admirable, but so are a lot of the other jobs about to go without paychecks. They're not holy templars battling the forces of evil in selfless, sacred service to god's divine will. They're folks, mostly a bunch of kids, who have a spectacularly shitty job.
If Michelle Bachmann actually gave a rat's ass about them, she'd just raise taxes on billionaires to pay for it, and ended corporate welfare. But to her ilk, those mostly-kids getting their limbs blown off in far-off hellholes are just political pawns in more ways than one.
Every time a Republicant says they love the troops, what they mean is they're about to cut VA benefits. Every goddamned time.

9. This won't pass Senate |
|
Or if it does, Obama won't sign it. Bachmann knows it. So this merely provides political cover for the TP who will be able to blame the Senate or Obama if the troops don't get paid.
