You won't believe what just happened in Wisconsin.

extraordinary development in the Wisconsin state Supreme Court election: The county clerk for conservative Waukesha country has reported that she neglected to include 14000 votes from the town of Brookfield in the totals she sent to the Associated Press Tuesday night. The new numbers reportedly give conservative incumbent David Prosser a net gain of 7582 additional votes, decisively swinging the race in his favor. At a press conference Thursday afternoon, the Waukesha county clerk, a Republican, reported that the votes for Brookfield had not been "saved in the computer."

Further complicating the story, the clerk in question, Kathy Nickolaus, a former computer specialist, received flak last summer for her idiosyncratic approach to collecting and maintaining election data. And in 2002, during a criminal investigation into illegal campaigning on state time," while running for the office of Waukesha county clerk, Nickolaus was granted immunity from prosecution, for reason that are unclear at this writing.

7. It was planned, no question.
If it is legit, I think they wanted to play a head game with the Democrats in Wisconsin (and the rest of the country). Hold these back and then drop it like a bomb. Why? Because they can and whose going to call them on it? The Media? Democrats? They want us to think that it's hopeless to beat them at an election. They may be right...if people start believing that voting doesn't matter, why show up and vote?

2. I would.
I am at my rope's end - this country is so absolutely fucked-up I'm actually glad I'm on the downslope.

We are doomed. From within.

4. Gee, one would think that a good place to start would be to interview the Dem representative to the
canvass board from that county. Maybe she has something to say about all this.

10. I believe it but I don't understand it.
The votes from the various wards and precincts were reported throughout the night. I noted that Waukesha reported at least 3 times because the AP's tally showed that many changes to their published results.

If ONE mistake was made how the hell did it amount to 14000 votes? The average vote cast in a precinct in Tuesday's election was 1000 and only a very few went to above that number.

14. Cheating cheaters cheat.
Unfortunately, they only get caught when an election is this close.

Real voting should always factor in +5% for dems, to account for rethug cheating.

Huh?

And look at her history! She's a repug activist who has no integrity. And we're supposed to believe this shit?
There needs to be a criminal investigation- now.

As they have demonstrated repeatedly, they're weak, impatient and numbskulled -- something's gonna leak out exposing their painfully obvious fraud.

20. Is there a paper trail for the votes she kept in her personal computer?
If not, they shouldn't count because there is no way to verify that the vote totals are real.

22. This sounds like what happened to Don Siegelman in Alabama
some years ago. Eerily familiar.

What percent of the voters in Waukesha turned out at the polls and how does that compare to similar counties?
