Statement from Kloppenburg campaign

Thu, 04/07/2011 - 9:10pm | Steve Hanson

"Wisconsin voters as well as the Kloppenburg for Justice Campaign deserve a full explanation of how and why these 14,000 votes from an entire City were missed. To that end, we will be filing open records requests for all relevant documentation related to the reporting of election results in Waukesha County, as well as to the discovery and reporting of the errors announced by the County. We are confident that election officials in Waukesha County will fulfill these requests as quickly as possible so that both our campaign and the people of Wisconsin can fully understand what happened and why. Just as Assistant Attorney General Kloppenburg has run to restore confidence in the court, Wisconsin residents also deserve to have full confidence in election results."

52. This is different than the Bush Era. More people know what is going
on and they are fighting like hell in Wisconsin. The Repug cheating machine has to keep doing its thing cause that is the only way they can win and they will be vulnerable from now on to public exposure and legal action unlike before. They are not the party in power like they were then.

...and then fought on the ice.

It is a most odious and reprehensible development, but given the mendacity and thorough unprincipled nature of her adversary's allies, not wholly unexpected as there is no guttural level to which they will not slither to preserve their stranglehold on power. I do hope she commences an all out legal assault and if so perhaps DU can assist the funding effort.

29. Two tasks: 1) FIRE this incompetent idiot clerk. 2) GET MORE DEM TURNOUT NEXT TIME !
First embarrass the shit out of this idiot clerk who has been under the gun BEFORE for shitty practices, refusing to reform, and old shitty equipment. GET THE IDIOT FIRED ! Make a HUGE stink about it !

Second, with everything that has gone on, a little more Dem TURNOUT and this would not have been an issue. Major kudos to all the turnout that did happen, and it was very close even if within 7000 or so votes, BUT with all that happened she should have won a damn LANDSLIDE. With all respect, 33% statewide turnout doesn't cut the mustard. MORE DEMS NEED TO GET THE HELL OUT TO VOTE !! ONCE AGAIN, LIVE AND LEARN.

NOW ALL YOU CAN DO IS RE-DOUBLE THE RECALL EFFORTS AND FIGHT ANOTHER DAY.

Holy cow!
Just learned that Kathy Nickolaus worked for David Prosser for eight years when Prosser ran the Republican Assembly. In other words, she was employed by Prosser, the candidate.

People in the office who observed the canvass said the additional votes from Brookfield never came up. C'mon!

Apparently Charlie Sykes, National Review and right-wing bloggers had the story hours before it was announced. She admits that she discovered it at noon--sat on it for 29 hours! One person involved said it stinks to high heaven. Indeed! Can't believe it? I can and wish I could say I can't. But I can.

46. While I feel for Ms. Kloppenburg......
....she brought some of this on herself by declaring victory based on an unofficial election-day count given to the Associated Press. Hell, she and the AP may have been set up by this.....and progressives, even some here, were telling her that she needed to declare victory to create some sort of appearance of inevitability. It is her right to challenge all of this, but she wouldn't have all this egg on her face if she waited. Franken didn't need to declare victory, before the count was official, in order to win. This isn't over yet, but she ends up looking stupid.

If we want to claim incompetance, it will cost one woman her job (maybe), but it won't change the result. If we want to claim fraud, then we need facts. We need to get to the bottom of this "computer error" or "human error".

Seriously skewed way of looking at things. It doesn't make anyone look stupid to declare victory based on the AP saying it is so. It doesn't matter what the end result is (mistake, fraud, whatever) it doesn't make anyone other than the election officials look stupid. There is no "egg on her face" and I'm sure she isn't (and shouldn't be) embarrassed to have believed the results.

59. There might be "egg" on someones face, but it's not Justice Kloppenburgs. She did the right thing
declaring victory and I can promise you that had the pube been ahead by 204 votes, they wouldn't have hesitated to claim victory. I can only think of one person that looks stupid in all of this. I don't ever give the benefit of the doubt to people in the Republicon party who continuously lie, cheat, and manipulate conversation to get their own way and divide this country. All one has to do is pull their head out of their ass to smell clean air and see the light. The Republicons are psychotic, thieving hypocrites who have proven by past actions, to be criminals as well. Head, out of ass, equals light and clean air which allows one to see the truth and breath clean air (well, as clean as the deregulation by Republicons) allows it to be.
