President Obama and the Democrats Need to Inform the American People More |
|
President Obama and the Democrats are not informing the American people enough about the cuts that the Republicans want. I do not see how the majority of the American public would support the Republicans if they knew the Republican wanted to stop cleaning up Chesapeake Bay and also wanted to allow more arsenic and mercury in the bay. The Democrats should be on tv as much as possible telling the American people about this. I think the American people would be outraged if they knew this was part of the cuts and policies the Republican Party wanted.

1. "The democrats should be on TV" - they are out there |
|
I see them on Hardball, Rachel Maddow Show, Ed Show, etc.
I do not know if the other networks are showing them or not.

4. Yeah but our messaging sucks. The Repubs frame their 'jabbing point' and keep |
|
repeating it at nauseam. We ramble.
This morning I heard Boehner say "Obama should sign the Troop Funding Bill so we can pay our troops and avoid a shutdown" and I thought, there they go -- it's now the Troop Funding Bill, not sixty-fucking-some riders they slapped on to it which affect the EPA, Planned Parenthood, etc.
We need a tag for it and need to keep repeating that.
We have to do this every time, as they do. The public thinks the only bill that's up there is Troop Funding -- we have to counter that and not by droning explanations of why Planned Parenthood needs to be defended. We need a sound bite. It's so discouraging.

6. Obama doesn't care about details |
|
Truly, Obama either doesn't care, or he really is an absolute idiot who can't concentrate on more than two things at once. This whole "shut it down!" controversy is the biggest political gift he's gotten (and he's bungled many) in his presidency. He should be hammering the Rethuglicans on the cruel, mean, vicious, irresponsible cuts they are clamoring for. Instead, once again, he's busy capitulating under the guise of "bipartisanship" (otherwise known as battered wife syndrome). So instead of getting half a loaf, the people will get a few moldy bread crumbs.
This is a true no-brainer. The template is in the living memory of half his advisors, seeing as they worked in the Clinton administration, which used the shut down the government tactic in a masterfully brilliant political fashion. All he has to do is do what Clinton did, and he wins! Yet, he is busy being Obama, determined to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. Only the person who rescued the Rethuglican party off of life support could bungle the manufactured budget crisis this badly.

7. He has the weekly talks but I think the problem is that unlike FDR |
|
he does not use them to keep the people informed. So many of his speeches lately have been all but generic. Facts, please. Bottom line, please. Truth even if it hurts, please.
