The worms are surfacing.
The Murdoch empire is breaking apart in Britain over the wiretaps and the police coverup.

Even my favorite wingnut thinks Prosser stole the election in Wisconsin--the whole case is so blatantly suspicious.

People used to tell me that they saved a lot of trouble digging their fishing worms by driving 2 metal rods in the ground some feet apart & running an electric current between them. This would drive all of the nightcrawlers & angleworms to the surface where you could just pick them up. It reminds me of what's happening in the world these days. The two biggest worms being driven to the surface right now are the WI Supreme Court election and the Murdoch scandal, but there are many more to come.

I don't think anybody imagined the power of a linked world collaborating in doing investigations, posting their findings on Facebook, blogs, etc.

In the long run, regardless of who is seated on the WI Supreme Court, this incident will live on in memory and, just as you can never convince a teabagger of the truth about ACORN, even if there was no underlying scandal in the Kloppenburg case (I'm still open to that possibility despite the strong odor the case is beginning to emit), you will never convince most Wisconsinites of that. Even if Nikolaus is innocent of wrongdoing this time, all her past sins and connections are laid out, including the 2002 case when she was given immunity to testify about corruption in which she had been involved as an aide to the Republican Caucus in the WI Legislature.

More eye-opening has been going on. I hope it's in time to head off the desent into fascism.

1. Kinda off topic but related to your post
Do you think the two rods inserted in the ground with a little electric applied would make the grubs surface?
I am continually plagued by these little bastard which just bring more moles & voles to the feast.

2. Also off topic...
I was wondering if the convenience of driving the worms from the ground was equal to the heft of bringing an electrical source, two rods, wire and tools to the worm purging ground. Instead of the lightness of your own two hands.

3. No need to apply practicality where worms, electricity and men are concerned.
It's just cooler that way.

8. I agree
when hunting worms a trowel or small spade even your fingers work best. But grubs are a bit more difficult to find and are usually spread out over more of my grass. (I do not have a lawn, that's for people with money)

10. Interesting philosophical question.
Where do grass and lawn diverge?

Stumper.

14.  Where do grass and lawn diverge?
The diversion would be(in my experience)
Somewhere between the front of the house and the back.

Grass you cut (or smoke if you're into that) A lawn must be maintained. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay to much work for us country folk.

20. I like off-topic talk.
The fact is, though, that I never actually tried this, nor did I ever see it done. I dunno if it would work on grubs, but it might be worth a try. Now, if I could only figure out a cure for Japanese beetles and box elder bugs, I would begin to feel that my life is coming together.

24. If your winters aren't too cold, milky spore powder does it for the
beetles. As far as I know, the box elder bugs aren't hurting anything.

I haven't a clue of what it is or how to use it, but will lay my ignorance before the feet of Google and beg for enlightenment.

to leave other bugs alone.

31. Weren't the Japanese Beetles brought here to ontrol something else?
They being thought to be harmless to everything but the target they were brought for? Maybe I have that story wrong; maybe it's just an unplanned immigrant that hopped a free ride on a tramp steamer.

...Waiting for the worms to come
Waiting to cut out the deadwood
Waiting to clean up the city
Waiting to follow the worms
Waiting to put on a black shirt
Waiting to weed out the weaklings
Waiting to smash in their windows
And kick in their doors
Waiting for the final solution
To strengthen the strain
Waiting to follow the worms...

Oh, I forgot -- the worms tend to deny that that's happening.

Well, then, maybe it's actually global worming. ;-)
