Is MSNBC's top chyron banner burned into anyone else's TV screen?
I usually always have the TV tuned to MSNBC while I'm working. Then one day I noticed something. The top chyron is permanently burned into my screen.

Now any time my TV is on MSNBC (which I nearly swore off because of this) I have to adjust the screen resulution to remove the chyrons from the screen. This adjustment causes a cropping off of heads, etc. I also have to adjust the screen resolution back to normal whenever I switch to a different channel. And I have to do this EVERY SINGLE TIME so that it will not damage my screen anymore than it already is!

Very frustrating.

8. If it's a CRT-based rear projection system, congratulations , it's a permanent feature.

Nothing can fix a "burned-in" image on a CRT.

If it's an LCD-based rear projection system, it will go away
with time; dynamic, changing images (like, as someone
mentioned, "snow") will help erase things faster.

And if it's a DLP-based rear projection system, it shouldn't
have happened in the first place!

11. +1 on all of those and to add that Plasma TV's can also "burn"
permanently.

For anyone with an LCD this free software can help recover dead or stuck pixels:

13. Thank you, yes, plasma too.
In both CRTs and Plasma panels, it's the "phosphor
screen" that wears out under the continuous bombard-
ment of high-energy electrons and the resulting heat.

LCD and DLP TVs have no analagous element.

12. Thanks for the info, Tesha. I might be stuck with it.
I don't understand why they have to have that bright white chyron up there anyways. Surely they must know what that thing does to some TV models, yet it's been up there for a long time.

10. Had the same thing with the channel guide on a big screen rear pro. Mitsubishi.
Finally broke down and bought a LCD.

3. Yes! Other images, too. Had Whoopie Goldberg's head burned in once
because I paused The View for 10 minutes. It goes away though, and you can also run a white screen DVD or 'snow' overnight if you want to fix it.

6. Check your TV settings and see if there is an anti-image retention option
