I wish Obama would go on TV and list every one of the Repub's "Policy Riders" in the Budget Bill.
I'm so sick of hearing "we need to cut spending" in such broad, generic terms, and that "the American people just want a deal to be reached." Fuck that, I don't just want a deal to be reached, I want the right deal to be reached.

President Obama has seriously wasted golden opportunities these past few nights to just fucking lay it out there for the American people. It's simple, all he had to do was go to the podium, take out a list, and say, "Look, America, the Democrats have been trying to make a deal to keep our country running, but the Republicans insist on cutting these services--," and then rattle that shit off one by one, word for word.

They've only been focusing on Planned Parenthood (which is an important issue, don't get me wrong...and whose funds appropriation has been wildly misrepresented by the GOP), and "who to blame" if the government shuts down. I've heard a few mentions of slashing EPA funding, but that's it! Why in the blue fuck are they allowing the Repubs to control messaging once again?! Quit speaking of generic spending cuts, and let us know in detail just what it is these fuckers want to cut!

For a partial list (the majority of which I hadn't heard), check out this thread:

1. I have been wondering why they are only focusing on the Planned Parenthood
one too. Why not talk about the environmental riders and the net neutrality riders, etc...?

3. Same here!
I hadn't heard anything about the Net Neutrality one, which you'd think would be a pretty BFD.

2. I would guess that takes a set of cajones, which he apparently doesn't possess

You KNOW Bush and his Press Sec'y would be ALL over those details. Just b/c Boner wants to hide it, doesn't mean we have to capitulate (AGAIN).

Obama ought to be doing this about EVERYTHING the GOP puts forward, but I guess he wants to take the high road of capitulation.

It just makes me want to slam my head against the wall.

4. fresh fruits and vegetables in school lunches, weatherization programs

5. Oh, pshaw! He didn't waste ANY oppotunities. He thoughtfully declined them for political reasons.

I'm not trying to bite on ya, specifically, but we have to remember politicians at the Senatorial/Presidential level aren't stupid. They may be crazy and they may be so far out of our world view that their decisions appear "stupid", but these are carefully considered actions- or inaction, in this case- for some presumed political benefit.

Like, say...2012.

11. Oh, most definitely...
...I was just openly venting, I guess. There's no doubt that it's all highly calculated - they may have even gotten a nice laugh out of this idea.

7. Exactly..
what I have been thinking. I was asking someone yesterday, why we hadn't heard any of this from the Dems.

Now they come out trying to look like they are on top of things. One problem I have is that everytime an issue comes up the Dems want the President to come out and make a speech he has been out there but they have just begun showing up today.

I see many other things in there that are just as troubling as the planned parenthood thing and they say NOTHING about it,they let these insane mfkers run out there as though they are speaking for a majority of the country and they aren't...

8. I've seen Dems going over this on MSNBC. That does not mean the other cable outlets are showing
Democrats.

10. Filthy Re-Thugs want to gut any environmental watch-dogs too...
In light of the current spew of radioactivity spreading over the planet...wouldn't most Americans want to know what's in their milk and rainwater right now?
President Obama should point this out and stress this is what the Re-Thugs want to hide from you.
When he's done reading the list, he can then proceed to drop-kick Boner's crying, drunken, fucking ass off the fucking court.

12. Was there a budget bill for this fiscal year submitted/proposed prior to the
new fiscal year beginning last Oct 1, or did congress wait until after the new bunch was sworn in following the November election?

The President made his budget recommendations Feb of 2010, like he is required to do. Was there any action by congress between his recommendation and Oct 1? I can only find info on HB1 of the new congress, but that was done early this year.

Along with that, the President made his budget recommendations for fiscal year 2012 in Feb. of this year, like he is required to do. One wonders if the congress has taken any steps toward a bill for the next fiscal year (2012, begins Oct 2011), or is this going to be an ongoing fiasco of continuing resolutions?
