A friend of mine from Pewaukee sent this to me on FB...
Fact 1: Kathy Nicklaus is a Republican operative. She served on many Republican boards and for Republican causes, before she ran for County Clerk. She is also known as a fierce anti-abortion crusader.

Fact 2: Kathy Nickolaus was heavily criticized for her handling of voter records long before this happened. In an article in this paper from last August, Nonetheless, Director of Administration Norman A. Cummings said because Nickolaus has kept them out of the loop, the county's information technology specialists have not been able to verify Nickolaus' claim that the system is secure from failure. "How does anybody else in the county know, except for her verbal word, that there are backups, and that the software she has out there is performing as it should?" he said. "There's no way I can assure that the election system is going to be fine for the next presidential election."

Fact 3: As recently as last January, people were outraged by Kathy Nickolaus' failure to comply with the audit. As reported in this paper last January, County Board Chairman Jim Dwyer was reported to have said about Nicklaus' actions, "This is the only audit in my 17 years where there's no compliance before (the audit reaches) the Executive Committee."

Fact 4: Nickolaus was close to criminal activity that resulted in several state representatives going to jail, and she received immunity herself.

1. Doesn't the fact that she received immunity ...
mean she was GUILTY of criminal activity (not just close to it)? My impression is that the first person to talk got immunity and everyone else was prosecuted.

2. She received immunity to force her to testify against
her bosses in a case that involved state employees working on political campaigns on state time. Democrats as well as Republicans went to jail in that mess.

4. The real question is why is she still in her position
if that was the case.

I think they have done like here in FL, stacked the decks for voting season.

5. She's a Republican in Waukesha County. The local press did NOT do...
...their job of exposing her BEFORE she was elected.

She'll probably win re-election if she's not in a prison cell next time around.

8. Crooks and Liars has some reports on this; has a history of "oops"

Karoli adds:

There's more. In 2006, she had some difficulty with absentee ballots. In 2006 again, we have her using the exact same excuse for why she accidentally reported one candidate ahead when the other one really was. Seems she moved data into the wrong column. We've heard that one before, haven't we? In 2007 she blamed touch screen voting machines for flipping a school board election result. The margin? One vote.

In 2004, she had another "oopsie moment" and sent out sample ballots instructing voters to vote for her favorite candidate. Also in 2004, incorrect ballots went to voters in two different districts, so that 83 votes were cast for the wrong candidates. And it seems that close races are something common in Waukesha County.

But fear not. Our brave Waukesha County Clerk is a passionate proponent of Voter ID laws and appears to be an ardent pro-lifer. I imagine from the description in that post that she would be heartbroken to see Wisconsin's Supreme Court tilt any way but hard right.

Oh, also? Kathy Nickolaus was a staffer for...wait for it...David Prosser.

10. Interesting.
When I saw the clip of her "explaining" her "human error", I just felt there was something wrong.

I was reminded of the first time I saw Susan Smith, she of the two drowned sons, crying on TV begging the mysterious carjacker to return her children. That was a couple of days into the story -- I forget now why I didn't know about it at first -- and I could tell that she was lying, that there was something very, very wrong with her story.

Same here. There is something very, very wrong with the official story. Just don't know exactly what it is.
