One final Vick post: I promise - Brady and Vick elected to the Pro Bowl |
|
Does Vick's probation allow for him to fly to Hawaii? If not, then he should be DENIED.

Sorry. I guess you are not capable of forgiveness. And because of that, I feel sorry for you. Hope your life goes well and peace to you. Fyi, I am no longer commenting on this subject since there is a LOT of hostility about Vick. Not to mention hostility towards other people who say that Vick did his time and should be allowed to get on with his life.

12. The hostility toward Vick is at least partially due to... |
|
Vick getting what many perceive as a special deal.
Most cons get out of prison and are relegated to menial jobs at best when they can even find one at all, Vick gets out and makes millions and gets patted on the back by the President and told what a great fellow he is.
I have close relative that's an ex-con, he had to start his own damn business because no one would hire him, I resent the deal Vick got because it was absolutely not that way for my family member.

That makes no difference to me, I don't give the slightest fuck about the NFL, a bunch of overgrown and over pampered egotists getting paid more in a year for playing a kid's game than I'll make in a lifetime.
Frankly if this hadn't been a hot topic of discussion on DU I wouldn't have even known about it, I pay absolutely zero attention to the N00Z and even less than that to sports.

All in all, I wish I didn't know about it.
And I damn sure wish Obama had kept his trap shut about Vick, he could very easily have found some far more deserving ex-con to pat on the back. My opinion is that Vick is a borderline psychopath at best, an extreme lack of empathy is one of the "tells" of a psychopath.

anything saying that Vick was "patted on the back by the President and told what a great fellow he is."!
I really, really wish people would stop twisting everything the president does so far out of shape that it is completely unrecognizable. As the sentiment goes - you have the right to your own opinion, but you do not have a right to your own facts.

25. Obama thinks Vick is worthy of a multi million dollar contract.. |
|
For playing a kid's game..
How else should we interpret Obama's praise for the Eagles in hiring Vick?
In my opinion Vick is at least an incipient psychopath, an extreme lack of empathy is one of the "tells" of a psychopath and Vick exhibited that in spades.

congratulated the TEAM for setting an example of giving convicted felons a second chance. He did not "pat" Vick "on the back", or "tell him what a great guy he is". That is a bunch of hooey. He never spoke to Vick at all. This was about the example set by the team - not about VIck.

And being adored by vast crowds of sycophants.
To use a sports analogy, this was an unforced error on the part of Obama, he should have kept his mouth shut about Vick, Obama's decision to speak about Vick was remarkably tin-eared, particularly for such a brilliant politician.
I have an ex-con in my own immediate family, he had to start his own business when he was released over thirty years ago because no one would hire him, this subject hits very close to home for me and it's the main reason I'm upset at Obama over this, otherwise I wouldn't give a damn, which I didn't until Obama ran his trap.

28. And the situation of your family member |
|
is exactly what President Obama was pointing out. He congratulated the TEAM for giving Vick the second chance. It my have been awkwardly done, but he NEVER "patted him on the back", not did he tell him what a great guy he is. This was about the second chance, not about the virtues of Michael Vick.
I just think your statement was over the top.
BTW....I have a family member in jail now, and I hope that someone will give him a job when he is released.

16. Do you not realize how condescending and inappropriate |
|
it is to demand others forgive Vick on your schedule? Forgiveness is a very personal thing. People come to that point (or not) based on their own issues. Those who have dealt with the horrors and aftermath of dog fighting may well have a harder time with it than those who are admittedly first and foremost sports fans or who are not really into dogs or pets. You should really try to understand THAT as well.
