I have made the mistake in the past where I didn't call a repub congress critter
if they were a tea bagger or someone who I was sure would not listen to what I had to say.

It has just occurred to me that this push to de-fund Planned Parenthood was probably being back up'd by teabaggers calling their tea bagging representatives.

Why do we let that happen without any crossfire? If anyone should be calling these tea bagging representatives it should be us telling them to stop being ass hats and vote like human beings. They probably won't listen but what if they did? If they got 100 calls from tea baggers and 200 calls from us wouldn't if make them at least less secure?

Case in point. Planned parenthood is overwhelmingly supported by the American people yet these tea bagging representatives were insisting it was the will of the American people to de-fund it. Is it possible that had we flooded their phones with calls to say we wanted to continue funding Planned Parenthood they might have listened even a little and this whole bullshit of a threatened government closing would not have happened.....so bad or something.

2. I called Pence's office in Washington this afternoon. I said my peace
and I think the aide was a little taken back. Felt great! Also, called my district's Representative, Visclosky. I asked his aide if they had been getting a high volume of calls and she said, "Yes"!

3. Mine's a pub...
But I never let that stop me. I'm always calling about things. The aide usually argues with me, but I often get the best of them. Leave them kind of sputtering. But I'm always respectful.

4. (Virginia) I always contacted Sens. John Warner's and Macaca Allen's offices.

Only Warner's office would reply, and it was always a polite answer that explained why he (usually) disagreed with my position. Macaca's never replied. But if other voters also did this, as I am sure they did, our senators at that time could never truthfully claim that they hadn't heard from anyone who shared our opinions.

I'm fortunate to be in Cong. Moran's district and he knows we all agree with him most of the time!

When Sen. Warner retired, I wrote him a note thanking him for his service, even though I frequently disagreed with his positions, and that he always represented VA with dignity. He (or his staff) even wrote an acknowledgement of that.

5. Well, we the people don't have the $$$$ or the sort of "conscience"
that would allow us to BUY our politicians like the repubs do. That's not how progressives roll.

You're correct Maraya! We're just going to have to TOTALLY INUNDATE OUR REPRESENTATIVES WITH OUR DEMANDS & DESIRES UNTIL THEY CAN'T STAND THE CALLS, LETTERS, FAXES, AND EMAILS anymore...but it's going to take A LOT - A LOT of calls, letters, emails and faxes....CONSTANTLY.

That just might make a difference. Can we do it and keep it up? Because THAT is what it is going to take!
