They'll be back for the crumbs soon.

Can't have the proles living high on the hog now, can we?

4. The vast majority of Democrats including Obama agree there is a need to cut spending.
The question is how much and how fast.

7. Partially, but Not quite that cut and dried
A lot of Democrats -- and moderate independents -- happen to believe that bringing in additional revenue by restoring some of the responsibility of the wealthy corporations to help fund government.

But that has been taken off the table.

There are other ways to bring the budget into line besides chopping. But those are corporate sacred cows that the centrist conservative Dems don't even want to acknowledge.

8. Perhaps but we still have to cut spending.. there is no way around it.
Unless there was some miraculous turn in the economy that would generate massive new revenue.

6. Frank Zappa was right.
He's talking about freedom here but one can easily replace "freedom" with "democracy."

"The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater."
— Frank Zappa
