"The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity."
Okay, maybe that Yeats quote isn't fair to all our Democratic politicians.

But unfortunately the GOP is "full of passionate intensity."

And our Democratic leaders simply aren't making arguments in favor of Democratic ideals with similar intensity.

Worse, they can't even seem to frame arguments in traditional Democratic, progressive terms any more.

1. Lou Reed's intro to his "Take No Prisoners" live album...
...off topic, a bit, but that's how he opens "Sweet Jane," by stating the quote and saying "Now guess which one I am."

3. "Things fall apart; the center cannot hold".
Interesting, I've been thinking of that poem by Yeats a lot lately. I had to memorize it when I was a freshman in college.

It holds a lot more meaning for me now. :-(

5. Somehow, that Yeats poem is more applicable now than ever.
One of my all-time favorites, quoted many times on various discussion boards over the years. The last time (a few weeks ago) it was someone else who quoted it. It really seems to be in the air these days.
