"Like any worthwhile compromise, both sides had to make tough decisions and give ground on issues"
"Like any worthwhile compromise, both sides had to make tough decisions and give ground on issues that were important to them," Obama said before cameras in the White House Blue Room as he acknowledged some of the cuts agreed to would be painful, with certain programs cut back and other projects encountering delays. "But beginning to live within our means is the only way to protect those investments that will help America compete for new jobs," he said.

WHAT did the 'other' side give up, again?

15. Decoy my ass, the GOP intends to eliminate a woman's rights of personal choice, period.
This was a pathetic attempt to defund Planned Parenthood under the guise that federal funds in this (or any other) budget would be used for abortion services which is, as liberals, progressives, and every other free thinking non-troglodyte knows is patently untrue --- although this wee fact didn't stop John Kyl from blatently lying on the floor of the senate:

"Everybody goes to clinics, to hospitals, to doctors, and so on. Some people go to Planned Parenthood. But you don’t have to go to Planned Parenthood to get your cholesterol or your blood pressure checked. If you want an abortion, you go to Planned Parenthood, and that’s well over 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood does."

Damage done, CNN called Kyl's office the next day and was told:

"His remark was not intended to be a factual statement, but rather to illustrate that Planned Parenthood, a organization that receives millions of dollars in taxpayer funding, does subsidize abortions."

Video here: http://thinkprogress.org/2011/04/08/kyl-walks-back-claim-about-planned-parenthoo/

There is no way in hell that abortion services are a political ruse or decoy... the GOP will NEVER stop trying to control women's reproductive systems and personal choices. This issue IS a war for them (just ask Ricky Santorium) and the GOP freaks in Congress will not only continue to keep talking shit like Kyl did and keep abortion front and center in the minds of their base, but ultimately do their evil best to repeal laws that protect not only reproductive rights, but overall health care for the poor.

And welcome to DU, tomodachi- you've landed on a great site full of opinions, information, and wonderful people. We are glad to have you! :hi:

5. We are fighting two wars that are outside of our means, Mr. President.
Two wars you said you would end, yet wars that we're still sinking BILLIONS into. Kindly shove the sentiment up your well paid, future secured, comfy ass and try eating some Spaghettios for dinner.
