The real problem of Pres. Obama and all Democrats: How do we deal with an Oppositional Party |
|
whose leadership members show such a high rate of criminal mentalities?
Just look at the way they: lie, deceive the public, practice fraudulent election tactics non-stop, fight for tax deductions for the rich by hook and by crook while pushing the tax-load onto those who are barely able to eke out a living. Their aggressive, cruel, and criminal activities are endless, and they are trying their best to make these criminal activities all LEGAL -- officially sanctioned by the U.S. Government !!!
A prominent example: An average of 50,000 Americans needlessly die each year because they can't afford to pay the medical expenses. Yet the Repubs. are pushing to continue the present way of health care delivery, because their insurance companies make more money this way. We all know that the Single-Payer system (practiced by almost all the advanced nations in the world, and with great success) will make health care available to every American. But the Repubs. invent and tell lie upon lie to discredit it -- all for the sake of MORE PROFITS. Human lives mean nothing to them. They're only interested in the profits. -- regardless of the number of innocent deaths.
We have too many sick people (sociopaths) holding high positions, both in private industry and in government. How do we devise ways and means of dealing more effectively with such people? So far, we are not. They are having the upper hand -- and aggressively so.

1. my own personal opinion -- we need to clean house |
|
Infections need to be wiped clean - down to the cement.
I'm sick of watching the evisceration of the american middle class. I cannot keep making excuses for *representatives* on either side who sit back and let this happen.

4. I agree with you. In order to wipe infections clean, we need the disinfectants to do the job with. |
|
What kind of disinfectant could we use?
I was thinking of how much emphasis the Repubs. place on money, money, money. It is power. They've worked really hard for it, non-stop in fact. They have the upper hand now, even with their small numbers, because of the money they have. Correct?
So, one possible way of weakening them is to cause them to make less, and then to actually lose money. This is what the corporatists are doing to the rest of America right now, aren't they?
Let's give them a dose of their own medicine. The ways and means are numerous: threaten their businesses through boycotts, making more demands about quality received for money paid...
Hey, you business people, you can think up more ways and means than I can. Make the super rich pay -- for a change!! The less money they have, the less power they will have, too. They wouldn't be able to bribe their way around as much as they do now.

6. Yep. I think one smart thing the Tea Party did was they primaried their incumbents. |
|
Even the really popular, powerful, entrenched ones. They didn't give a damn.
We need to do the same. There are some members of Congress that have done a good job. We'd leave them alone. But those that voted to cave, those that denigrated progressives and their values, the DINOs, etc... My philosophy is primary them all.
I will not be donating to the President's campaign this year. I'm worse off financially than I was in 2007-2008. However, I will be donating whatever small funds I can to those espousing progressive values who are brave enough to take on these entrenched Congresscritters. I know there are people of character out there; we just have to find them, encourage them, and give them enough incentive to run for office.

2. Well, for one, you don't PARDON THEM, as soon as you take office like he did with |
|
Senator Ted "Bridge to Nowhere" Stevens.
"Convictions voided and indictment dismissed
On behalf of U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Paul O'Brien submitted a "Motion of The United States To Set Aside The Verdict And Dismiss The Indictment With Prejudice" in connection with case No. 08-231 early on April 1, 2009. Federal judge Emmet G. Sullivan soon signed the order, and since it occurred prior to sentencing it had the effect of vacating Stevens' conviction." - Wikipedia

7. You're right there. The Dem. leadership bends backwards to be cooperative, |
|
even when the Repubs. are insulting them and laughing in their faces.

8. Obama could start wielding his Veto pen rather than the white flag. |
|
And, then, let the Republicans start scraping for 66 votes to override.

11. I sometimes wonder if Obama is waiting till after his winning the |
|
election in 2012, before he starts "wielding his veto pen." 1. He can then tell them that he had bent over backwards to accommodate them all he could, and they had not responded, so now this time is over and done with. 2. He'd have a better reason to do the above because it's his final term in office.
It's a lot of wishful thinking on my part, I know.

9. Up until a few months ago we had total control |
|
And still we were screwing around with the budget with no solid plan. I don't suspect having a repug congress helps (to say the least)!, but it is not like they suddenly are screwing us up.

10. You are correct. It's not sudden. They've been screwing us non-stop for decades. |
