She is either incompetent or a liar or both. More Investigations Called for in Mystery of the Found Votes in Wisconsinhttp://news.firedoglake.com/2011/04/08/more-investigations-called-for-in-mystery-of-the-found-votes-in-wisconsin/---

1. Here's one possible scenario: |
|
1. Many Republicans have convinced themselves that Democrats win only by stealing elections.
2. The assumption was that Democrats would pad their numbers to ensure a win.
3. Thus, the strategy was to hold back some Republican votes until all the Democratic votes were in. The theory was the Democrats would pad their account just enough to win, but not enough to raise questions.
4. Once all the Democratic votes were in, it was safe to release the winning votes from Waukesha.

hold them back to get the Democratic base so worked up that they donate $$, many man hours, time, attention, effort, etc. . . to demand a hand-recount, etc.
This would divert a whole hell of a lot of attention, money, etc away from the recall efforts, away from the protests over the "budget", away from watching Scotty and the Fitzgerald brothers and the koch brothers, etc...

3. ok, still doesn't make sense. Burying those votes would have been caught in certification process |
|
regardless. As it was.
The thing I don't understand in all of this is what she would have had to gain in burying a WHOLE CITY. I will C&P what I have said repeatedly here:
THIS is why I think the case of the Brookfield votes WAS a mistake. A dumb incompetent mistake. They HAD to know it would launch a full investigation. I think THIS is why she was a nervous twit at presser- she knew she'd be the center of unwanted attention.
GAB is investigating with a fine-tooth comb. The Kloppenburg campaign is investigating with an even finer tooth comb. And there will be a recount in which every ballot is looked at with human eyeballs.
If this asshole wanted to throw the election to Prosser, this is about the stupidest way she could have done it. Anyone with access to city and county vote totals and a calculator would discover it in 5 minutes once the error was announced.
BUT it MUST and WILL be thoroughly investigated. Incompetence to that degree is as bad as fraud. That woman is responsible for *MY* vote and I want answers and I want a fine-tooth comb to see if she's made other mistakes and/or actually acting nefariously. This alleged mistake has opened her up to a deep deep dive that I am sure she didn't want. If she so much as forgot to cross a "t", we'll find it.

4. I think the key is she brought the votes forward at the last minute ... |
|
after everyone thought all the votes were in, but before someone had time to go down the list and spot the missing precincts.
So it was fraud in the sense that she was playing with the numbers, but they may have been actual legal votes.
I agree, an investigation is needed. The best part of this is that there may be some changes before 2012!

RepubliCON partisan fanatic who has 13 years experience in manipulating voter data, and who has been caught in criminal activities previously, and who was required to undergo an audit but ignored audit findings, and, who has been caught hiding counts and failing to follow policy, who loved her first boss who hired her into government service and which said boss happens to be running in an election she can easily manipulate.
More likely she held the votes off to see how many she needed to add in to prevent a state-funded recount.
It's not about trusting the numbers, it's about trusting this partisan clerk.

7. We give Republicans too much credit for being omnipotent masterminds. |
|
If that were really true we would be in big trouble since they tend to mindlessly stick together.
In this case the answer is most likely simple-minded incompetence. The only thing that Nickolaus should have to do with elections is when she casts her own vote.
Nickolaus really exemplifies the type of incompetence that is embraced by the GOP. She would be the type that they would like to see running our schools, teaching our kids, placed in positions of power and authority. Imagine what would happen if Republicans gained the kind of power on the federal level that they have now in the state of Wisconsin. What an unthinkable nightmare that would be.

The idea that you turned in the vote from your county* but somehow it was missing the equivalent of 20 precincts (out of 198 total) and nobody noticed the error until the next day seems pretty far fetched.
* The county BOE's vote total to the Sec. of State office.

10. This really is far fetched, like way out in right field where the incompetents seek power |
|
Actually, it is not very far fetched at all in a world where ideology is more important than ability! I noticed their error on election night, but I did not know who made the mistake at the time and I just accepted the AP report. The details are in my DU blogging: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=439&topic_id=821883&mesg_id=843846

not telling the truth she makes a circle with her hand and covers her mouth. The croc tears are a pity plea, it is human nature to not want to hurt someone who is pitiful. These are reflexive actions and actions that cannot be covered up, like a poker tell.
