Infographic: United States of the Environment...How is your state doing?
**I thought this was a neat site for fun, check it out if you will at the link.

We can't all have the most organic farms or the lowest air pollution, but every U.S. state is No. 1 in some environmental or public health category ... and No. 50 in another. Here's a look at each state's strengths and weaknesses.

By Russell McLendonMon, Apr 04 2011

In the spirit of two recent infographics that listed the best and worst of all 50 states — the United States of Awesome and the United States of Shame — MNN is taking another look, this time revealing how each state shines and suffers in regard to the environment or public health. Check out the maps below, and for more info (or to be reminded which state is which) see the list of states, stats and sources.

How does your state excel?

2. Ala.: lowest rate of Alcohol abuse. Really??????
I find that very hard to believe.

On the downside:
Home of the fir ant invasion.

God, tell me about them.

Btw..if you ever get fire ant bites, immediately put mentholatum stuff on it. Stops the pain, stops the swelling, cold.
The bite will not grow and blister as long as you keep using the mentholatum ( you know, something like Vicks or any of the cheaper versions)

4. Honestly, I can't vouch for the websites accuracy, but they seem to
have their records in order.

Good knowing about the fire ant relief! Thanks.

8. Excel? Most wetlands (duh).
Not excel? Most airports per capita. (I don't see that as a "not excel." If we didn't have a lot of airports in Alaska, NOBODY could go anywhere. There aren't even roads in most of the state.)
