I se a LOT of use of the same qualifying sentiment
When people talk about Obama any more, lot a of them seem to use such statements as "While I haven't always agreed with him, and while he is way better than any repubican . . . ." Variations of this sentiment abound, whether in real life or online.

I can't recall such qualified support for another supposedly popular politician in quite some time.
