Bobcat escapes mountain lion
Desert cat caught in a sticky spot after escaping mountain lion

PHOENIX - A Valley bobcat on the run from a mountain lion recently discovered a particularly touchy place to hide

The animal climbed a huge cactus to escape its foe, and photographer Curt Fonger has the pictures to prove it.

"He was king of the cactus on that particular morning,” Fonger said. “I call him Gold Canyon Bob.”

When trying to get away from predators in the desert, there is sometimes nowhere to run. This bobcat climbed 45 feet up a prickly cactus to escape a mountain lion that was chasing it.

-----------------------

After basking in the sun, the bobcat eventually found its way down, leapt off the cactus, and vanished back into the desert.
