Defaulting in the name of fiscal conservatism. . The Tea Party will kill America.
The fight against raising the debt ceiling. . How will the republicans keep the crazies in line this time?

Maybe our cries of TAX THE RICH should be turned up. .. .

1. Defaulting on US bonds will crush the world financial markets. This debt ceiling raise is for debt
already incurred. It's like not paying a credit card bill after charging to it.

4. We won't default.
Because another 'deal' with the Tea Party will be made.

Now, that probably means that you won't be able to retire until you are 75 years old.
And it probably means that you'll have to buy "Medicare" insurance from a private corporation.

But the United States will not default and the debt ceiling will be raised with all Tea Party votes in the House.

5. Does Boehner have the poker face for a real game of RISK?
Edited on Mon Apr-11-11 08:58 AM by MacNfries
Guess we'll see, this week, who really has the balls ... Democrats or Republicans. You can bet the TPR's are putting the pressure on Boehner, but we're not playing a game of spades now ... this is real poker, and I just don't think Boehner has the face for it. Any concessions given by Democrats MUST be coincided with removal of the Bush Tax Cuts for the RICH ... period!

8. Not gonna happen...
... no matter how loudly we scream, the fix is in, just like with every other "issue," Obama will fold. It IS what he does. I'll leave it up to other to guess at his motivations.

10. Not what I meant.
Taxes will NOT be raised on the wealthy. Period. Sorry I wasn't clearer.

14. Maybe the taxes won't be raised on the wealthy. But, if not, total
financial collapse is inevitable, an outcome that doesn't favor anyone including the wealthy.

15. Perhaps in the real world..
.. however, reality has yet to slow the march of the greedy few, nor do I see any sign that's going to change.

16. By our human frame of reference standards the "march of reality"
may be slow. But,in the end, reality will roll over the greedy along with the rest of us. Too bad. The Earth is bountiful enough support life of hundreds of thousands of years but the greedy are tampering with the balance of resources in a way that will prove fatal to all.

17. I concur...
... but the very well off live in a cocoon of ignorance of that reality. It never penetrates to them that in the end, we're all in this together, for better or worse.

18. Beautifully stated. If only 25% of all humans could learn the lesson
you just provided, we wouldn't be in the mess that we find ourselves. The understanding of connections is, as you have already pointed out, is the key.

19. Assuming Obama does propose to raise taxes on the rich ...
Edited on Mon Apr-11-11 03:50 PM by MacNfries
... all the Republican congress will do is simply go write another Tax Code to give the rich another deduction around it. Heck, how do you think the Tax Code book got so damn thick to begin with?

6. Completely Agree
My boyfriend and I, and a couple of our friends, protest whenever possible (and they are Union, through and through) and are expecting to be out for the next bell for the budget round. We aren't that sophisticated but we try to get out there when possible, and we are thinking that we need to demonize what the Repugs/Teabaggers are doing to the budget as they did about the democrats' issues. I posted this last night, but one slogan on our list is "Tax the Rich. Don't eat our poor! We also have a good idea for a pic and are looking for someone who might be able to draw for us as well (not soliciting here). We also would like to attack them on doing the very same things they bitched about the POTUS and congress at their rallies - perhaps buy using their own slogans but against repugs.

BTW, the very large Telco these union members work for tend to call "mandatory overtime" whenever there are protests, especially where the union is involved. Just one of the many, many tactics I believe US corps are turning to and will become worse under the repugs pimping of the American worker to big business.

Do you know, I HATE REPUBLICANS AND ALL THEY STAND FOR! Thanks for listening.

...for THEM. As for everyone else? Drop dead. Oh and that Democracy thingy? Who cares? It's long gone anyway. They've been hacking away at it since the 80s at least:

11. NOTE: true fiscal conservatism includes taxing the rich
Corporatism and cronie capitalism are not fiscal conservatism.
