1. Contrary to popular American belief, Canada does have terrorists and crazy people that hate America. |

Are there easily identifiable groups that would fall into the categories you describe? Or is just like here where it could be anybody.

4. They have a fairly lax immigration policy. I'll let you draw your own conclusions. |

That's not exactly what I meant, but it does answer a bit of my question. Mainly, what kinds of groups are in Canada that would behave like this? Anarchists, Anti-Globalists, Enviro-terrorists,etc... Those probably are not good examples (which is why I'm asking) but hopefully my meaning is more clear now.

This place is vastly more diverse than Harper wishes it was, especially in the major cities.

Not meaning to make light of this situation, but I once thought about that. I was looking at a globe and thought to myself, "Gee extreme weather sure does seem to make 'warlike' people".
I was thinking about the frozen deserts of the Arctic and the Vikings. Then there is the hot deserts of North Africa and the Middle East. Lots of violence comes from those places too.
Of course this theory has all sorts of holes in it, but it gave me something to do. :7
