Trump: Obama's Grandparents Put In The Birth Announcement To Get Benefits Like Welfare
Donald Trump has an explanation for why President Obama's birth would be announced in a Hawaii newspaper if he wasn't really born in the United States: His grandparents put it in as a ruse to make people think he was a U.S. citizen, "for hospitalization, for welfare, for this, for that, for all of the other assets you get from being a United States citizen."

On CNN's State Of The Union, Trump told Candy Crowley that he, and others, are not convinced by the birth announcement, published in the Honolulu Advertiser on Aug. 13, 1961, because "it was eight days later after the supposed birth."

"A lot of things happen in eight days," he said.

The grandparents put that in because obviously they want him to be a United States citizen. Because in those days, I mean people were much more proud than they are today unfortunately for being a United States citizen. So they wanted him to be a citizen of the United States, for that purpose, and also for hospitalization, for welfare, for this, for that, for all of the other assets you get from being a United States citizen. So there are very smart people who say that's routinely done and that was done by his grandparents.

1. He needs force fed some crow...
The Hawaiian state health official who personally reviewed Barack Obama's original birth certificate has affirmed again that the document is "real" and denounced "conspiracy theorists" in the so-called "birther" movement for continuing to spread bogus claims about the issue.

The first is that the original so-called "long form" birth certificate — described by Hawaiian officials as a "record of live birth" — absolutely exists, located in a bound volume in a file cabinet on the first floor of the state Department of Health. Fukimo said she has personally inspected it — twice. The first time was in late October 2008, during the closing days of the presidential campaign, when the communications director for the state's then Republican governor, Linda Lingle (who appointed Fukino) asked if she could make a public statement in response to claims then circulating on the Internet that Obama was actually born in Kenya.

Before she would do so, Fukino said, she wanted to inspect the files — and did so, taking with her the state official in charge of vital records. She found the original birth record, properly numbered, half typed and half handwritten, and signed by the doctor who delivered Obama, located in the files. She then put out a public statement asserting to the document's validity. She later put out another public statement in July 2009 — after reviewing the original birth record a second time.

Well worth the whole read:

3. I guess this is what it takes to be a serious Republican contender.
Sorry, but I have a hard time believing that Trump really thinks this is the case. I think he's forcing the Republican Party leadership to address this and refute the allegations that a large percentage of the base believes true.

6. Welfare as we know it started after Obama was born
I guess it is just part of the miracle of Obama's birth that his grandparents knew Welfare would be enacted into law before it was fully conceived. Trump is trumped.

really. why is this 'short fingered vulgarian" given any attention at all.Isn't he some sort of scummy east coast real estate developer? in what way does being a scummy NY greedhead qualify this guy to be taken at all seriously? just something I've wondered since the days of Spy magazine.

20. Just keeping himself in the news
He'll probably announce that he was wrong in a couple weeks to keep himself in the news. And President Obama may even give him more publicity by publicly accepting his apology based on some misguided notion that it might somehow appeal to swing voters.

21. Is he really that stupid? Obama is a U.S. citizen by virtue of
being born to a U.S. citizen. Birth in Hawaii is just a plus.

23. There's one way to end all of this.
Like it or not this is going to be an issue, a false issue but an issue none the less. Would it be so hard for him to get a copy of his original record and redact everything other than his Mother and Father's names and place and date of birth?

25. I don't think he actually believes this, or is putting any "resources"
toward uncovering "the truth". I believe he is following the pattern of Republicans pandering to the lowest common denominator of their party: The low-information, Rush listening, FOX watching, take back America crowd. These folks vote in every election because they are angry about something.

26. What hospitalization?
What the hell is Trump talking about here? As an American citizen you get no special rights to medical care in a US hospital, at least not that I'm aware of. It's all dependent on your ability to pay or whether or not you have health insurance. Hell, plenty of American citizens can only get some basic "don't die in my ER" care because they don't have money or health insurance. And the same goes for non-citizens as well. That man is full of some serious shit.

27. Serious question ..... does he really believe Obama is not a U.S. citizen,
or is this just pure theatrics to appeal to voters? I feel so sorry for Obama, having his grandparents accused of being dishonest. This sort of thing shouldn't be allowed to happen, especially to the POTUS for God's sake. It's really pathetic.
