The end must be near, 2 White Castles close
White Castle's Maple Avenue location shuts doors after 7 years

ZANESVILLE -- The Maple Avenue White Castle closed this week after seven years.

Jamie Richardson, vice president of corporate relations at White Castle, said despite the closure, the company remains committed to the Zanesville area because of its meat plant.

"For us, it's always one of the toughest decisions to close a restaurant, since this is a family business," Richardson said. "We take it seriously. But we have 10,000-plus team members, and when something happens that could affect the whole system, we have to do something."

He said the 15 employees at the Zanesville site were offered other positions within the company, but he realizes the distance from the Columbus market might not fit each individual.

...

The company also closed a location in Clintonville, in the Columbus area, last week that had been open for 80 years.

2. Damn. Sliders have been greasing the wheels of industry for years
Without sliders, I would have starved to death when I worked third shift. There are not many lunch places open at 3am.

I have noticed, in recent years, that Mexican food is displacing Sliders as the food of choice for big drinking nights. Maybe the sliders need more pepper.

:hi:

3. As they say about beer, you don't buy sliders.
You only rent them.

10. We had a Burger King close that was right near the highway off ramp.
If you can't make a fast food joint work right near the off ramp of the highway the economy is in big trouble.

12. Living in Austin and originally being from NYC...
I am at a loss for the burger from the castle of white.

I love the damn miserable gut wrenching things.

I do have another option: Crystal Burger. A White Castle knock off.

They are okay. They are about 90% of the way there. But lacking that certain something that would make them a true belly bomb.

So I make due.

14. White Castle is dangerous to the waistline- but they're goooood burgers, 1920s-style
with chopped onions and a hole in the middle to make sure the meat is cooked all the way through.
