As a registered dyed in the wool Democrat..... I want this |
|
Raise the Caps on Social Security..because I want my son to be covered by the insurance just like I was..
You might have to do some modification to keep some of the tax hikes off of the the middle class, but in 2012 let the tax cuts expire.
Seriously if we have duplications in programs.. bundle them up and cut the excess. I love what how they cut that 2nd engine out of that defense program plane..more of that..
Back us out o Iraq.. (well that is being done).. but back us out of Afghanistan also.. and keep us off the ground in Libya..
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the tax cuts we got with the stimulus in 09.. they were helpful.. as was the ability to keep my son insured while in college.
Thanks for keeping us solvent..
Thanks for the investments in green industries, and the sciences.. amazing.
Let the Republicans run themselves into the ditch.. and then raise those caps.

4. I'm middle class now (barely) and I hope all the tax cuts do end |
|
I want protections for the working class and below to be written into the new code and I want a hefty surtax on the real hogs at the trough.
And yes, RAISE THE FUCKING CAP, if only to recoup all the overpayments made by Boomers and those born later that were shoveled to the hogs in the form of income tax cuts.

6. The tax cuts and the pell grants |
|
have certainly helped us the last couple years. I am not sure what we would have done otherwise as I don't think we could have borrowed that amount of money. We both work 1 and half jobs too.

7. The cost of college is has skyrocketed in the last 10 years and |
|
is so prohibitive that many people cannot access it. And now in order to get a job that pays a decent living wage, you need to get a post high school education extension.
It used to be until Reagan that the government supplemented colleges.. and it kept tuition's in check. People could work and go to school and graduate with no debt. My husband did.
But someone told Reagan that college grads make so much more than those who do not have degrees that he decided to withdraw the help that kept tuition's lower because grads would make it up.. Well we all know how that went. People are now graduating with a quarter million in debt for a medical degree, and we wonder why going to the Doctor costs so much now.. ish kabbittle.
Good Luck to You Guys!!

8. Next year is his senior year. |

He's one the very lucky ones in that he has a scholarship that is augmented by pell grants. I think we will be ok - the school will help us I think.

Hopefully our guy will get a fellowship following next year too. I think he has a good chance as he has had some wonderful opportunities these past 3 years.
But, as with you, I am very concerned about what is available to everyone else in his age bracket. How can they pay these loans? I know if I had had to pay these costs, I would still be paying on my loan now, 3 decades past my grad date. It has to change. They need to have hope in their future.
