Michelle Bachmann burns up Iowa, decries gay marriage
Source: Politico

PELLA, Iowa — In a barn-burning speech to social conservatives here, Michele Bachmann called Monday for abolishing the entire tax code and the Department of Education, labeled Planned Parenthood the "LensCrafters of big abortion" and slammed same-sex marriage advocates for going against what she called 5,000 years of human history.

Comfortably quoting from scripture, the Minnesota congresswoman said it was her faith that drove her to push for a ballot measure to criminalize same-sex marriage in the state — something she said might be possible this year because both state legislative houses are held by Republicans.

"In 5,000 years of recorded human history... neither in the east or in the west... has any society ever defined marriage as anything other than between men and women," Bachmann said during the latest installment of the Iowa Family Leader's presidential lecture series. "Not one in 5000 years of recorded human history. That's an astounding fact and it isn't until the last 12 years or so that we have seen for the first time in recorded human history marriage defined as anything other than between men and between women."

Bachmann delivered a scathing critique against the Department of Education, "along with a few other agencies, by the way, that I think we can live without." Those include the Department of Energy and the Department of Commerce. She said Planned Parenthood should lose its tax-exempt status — it's a nonprofit —and that Congress should use its power to limit the subjects that district courts can rule on. . .

Well, I don't really think she's funny anymore. She is a pure hater, through and through.

She will lose to Trump in Iowa because he has cornered the birther vote, and that's what people who would otherwise support her care about most.

In her world, of course, the Earth is only 6,000 years old. So is she saying that for the first 1,000 years gay marriage was OK? I'm confused by that, but not as confused as Michele. "Criminalize" gay marriage? What, the death penalty?

4. "Isn't Congress in session??"
Well they have to do something to keep their voting base distracted by pointing at a number of things they declare are what the matter with the country, otherwise their base might get it into their heads to start asking things like pointed questions such as "Why did you spend the surplus" or "Why werent any WMDs found in Iraq" not to mention the ever popular "Whatever happened to the promise that the oil would pay for the war in Iraq?".

3. No one has had the heart to tell her
that if never changed at all and made advances in granting more freedom to people in our nation and still behaved like it was 5000 years ago that she wouldnt have the right to vote let alone hold office, have they?

6. 5,000 years of history? That's a selling point?
Wars, religious extremists, stunning ignorance (see points 1 and 2), racism, poverty?

I'm GLAD we're not emulating the savagery of our past. And she wants to bring it BACK?

16. We've moved on from a lot
of the things that were commonplace in 5000 years if history. We cure deseases with tools more effective than bloodletting and leeches. We have outlawed slavery. We don't fight to the death in blood sports.

She wants us to return to times when those atrocities were commonplace?

We've evolved. Not that she want to hear that word.

9. How is she going to "criminalize" gay marriage?
Will there be a fine? Jail time? What, exactly, is this batshit crazy idiot proposing?

So she believes Earth is only 6,000 years old.. and wants to run for President. Really?

Please run Michele.. I love seeing idiots like yourself make fools of themselves.

track record shows that the Wikipedia is probably correct. She is wrong AGAIN. What a maroon.

12. WOW!!!! Time for Michelle to kick it into high gear.
She is certainly very far right but maybe she is seeing many of here fellow republicans surpass her own insane ideology and now she is being left in the dust as far as CRAZY is concerned. So she is now letting it all hang out. Down with The Dept. of Education, Energy, Planned Parenthood and CRIMINALIZE same sex marriage. I love her use of words, "criminalize same sex marriage." Because you know her audience are the type who hang on to those words and before you know it the far right wing will be saying criminalize homosexuality. That's right, plant those words in their minds Michelle. What do these people think they are doing? The republican party seems to be at a point of no return. They have all jumped on the crazy train.

14. Corporate media has been saying she is getting two reactions
1. Cheering crowds
2.GOP leaders discouraging from running.

IMO, the majority response is actually:

0. What the fuck is she smoking?

18. Politico shills

The woman spouts a mixture of total nonsense, like abolishing abolishing the entire tax code, and pure evil.

Instead of engaging in journalistm, Politico swoons:

"Michele Bachmann burns up Iowa, decries gay marriage"
"

"a barn-burning speech to social conservatives"

"Comfortably quoting from scripture"

"Bachmann delivered a scathing critique against the Department of Education, "along with a few other agencies, by the way, that I think we can live without." Those include the Department of Energy and the Department of Commerce."

"a line she used during another recent trip to Iowa to lambaste the state Supreme Court justices"

Politico, puhlease.
