The beauty of snowflakes magnified

This is an image of a classic snow crystal viewed under the power of an electron microscope. May it serve as a reminder that snow is beautiful. Really.

12. Imagine if it were shot in 3D
Obviously the blurred parts are either closer to the lens or further away. I can't wait for camera technology to go 3D. It's just a matter of time.

Tansy Gold, in gloomy central Arizona where we will probably have snow on the mountains tomorrow.

7. is that a real snowflake??
that is amazing! i rarely see anything that symmetrical in nature. i suppose that has to do with the tiny scale.

8. I've always wondered how they can shoot the thing before it melts,
and how did they get it onto the stage in the first place.

11. I never fail to be enchanted by snow. The anger and frustration people lob
at their cities for "not doing enough" as is happening now always baffles and irritates me. It's another example of Man thinking we can keep Mother Nature in check. We do the best we can to deal, but in the end, we're up against a far more powerful force.
