TPM: Colbert ridicules John Kyl and "Fox & Friends" - video
http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/04/colbert-ridicules-sen-kyls-statement-on-planned-parenthood.php

-snip-

In the heated budget debate last week, Kyl erroneously claimed on the Senate floor that 90% of Planned Parenthood's services are abortions; the real number is more like 3%. Rather than admit a mistake, Kyl defended that claim by saying it was, "not intended to be a factual statement."

"Kyl just rounded up to the nearest 90," Colbert explained.

"You can't call him out for being wrong when he never intended to be right," he added.

-snip-

Colbert also goes after "Fox & Friends" for saying that women wouldn't need Planned Parenthood for pap smears and breast exams since they can get those at Walgreens.

1. Yes, that was classic! I've watched it twice and can't stop laughing.
The Walgreens colonscopy bit was hysterical. Can't believe those idiotic "Fox and Friends" would come up with that, but I'll never look at a Walgreens the same again. Gives "cleanup in aisle 4" a whole new meaning!

2. So Kyl just admitted to lying on the Senate floor?..........
Hyperbole is one thing (and its usually pretty obvious), but outright deception is another. This wasn't any attempt at hyperbole, he floated an patent untruth out there, and once he got caught, he tried to play it off as his being overwrought. I think there should be some discipline coming Kyl's way for lying to the Senate.

3. We should assume that anything that comes out of a Republicans mouth
is not intended to be a factual statement.
As you note the term needs to be branded as code for "outright lie".

4. One of the funniest segments ever!
And it's the only time I've seen Colbert unable to keep a straight face...
