Am I the only one who thinks Tom Brokaw is completely worthless? |
|
It was bad enough that he called the WWII generation the greatest. I was asking what the hell is the matter with the rest of us?
This morning on Today show he was talking about Medicare and Medicaid. Yes, it needs redone on a fundamental level...as if he was supporting making them into voucher systems so the rich can keep on getting richer and the poor and the old just get less.
The guy is a millionaire several times over. He doesn't have worry about paying for his health care or choosing between meds and food. He's got it made.
He has the audacity to preach to people about how bad of shape medicare and medicaid are in the position that he's in?
It pissed me off.

For some reason he thinks that being a news reader qualifies him to be an expert on everything. His perspective is from the position in the elite class.

6. I recall on election night, where he joined MSNBC's coverage team. He |
|
began spouting his pathetic, stale, conventional wisdom talking points, and you could practically see the look on Rachel's face - "Old man, if they didn't hold me back, I would FLY across this counter and rip your talking points to shreds like a Siberian tiger!"

8. He has pissed me off for years. |

My father (WWII vet) hated the term greatest generation. He thought it implied that his children and his grand children (and everyone else's children and grand children) weren't also great. He was aware that his generation was lapping up middle class entitlements like crazy that they had not paid for.
Every year at Christmas he and my mother gave us an accounting of the prior year's medicare benefits and SS funds they had received. They kept a running total of the difference between their contribution and what they received. Then they always thanked us, lifted a toast to the kids, and expressed their regrets that we were picking up their tab.
They referred to the benefits as the Longest Thank You Note In History (for winning WWII). It was the combination of my generation's contribution to their funds and the implication that their generation was somehow better than subsequent generations that pissed them off at Brokaw.

9. I've lost respect for this guy. But he is right about the WWII vets. They are the |
|
greatest generation. My father was a child during the depression and busted his balls to help his family and when WWII came he quit school and joined the military and made a career. They did lot for all of us.

...than 99% of the Main Stream Media, whose function it is to blow smoke up your ass 24/7.
It amazes me that ANYBODY gives two shits about what these simpering morons have to say. They are puppets and idiots spewing a toxic brew of disinformation.

And not to disparage the "Greatest Generation" tag, that is where he lost me. That generation made huge sacrifices, but to me the previous generation gave more. They fought through the horror of the Great Depression and then when asked, sent their kids off to war, and expected very little other than the opportunity to work, have a small place to live, and have a decent meal occassionally.
