Can the tea party go nuclear?


Signs point to a nuclear power surge on Capitol Hill: A newly empowered House Republican majority and several influential senators ready to make a push for nuclear as a source of climate-friendly power.

But the tea party-led charge to cut spending and pull back the hand of government could stand in the way.


Although several tea party-supported winners in the House espoused an “all of the above” approach to energy policy that included nuclear energy during their campaigns, it remains to be seen how these new members will react to the sticker shock of new reactors and the massive role the federal government plays throughout the industry.

Nuclear power is where energy independence meets big government – the industry depends on subsidies, loan guarantees and other federal funds that are an easy target for those seeking to shave deficits and big government.

Everybody knows the corporations are sitting on a couple of trillion dollars they intend to give to their shareholders via dividends. So WHY do we have to give them billions more?

The teabagger secret plan is to spend massive amounts of taxpayer dollars by giving trillions to the rich and corporations. WHERE will they CUT SPENDING to pay for their REVERSE ROBIN HOOD AGENDA?

Their going to cut pensions, civil service jobs including teachers, police and fire, and ROB social security, medicare and medicaid.

Which is EXACTLY what the left has been saying about them all along. They're FRAUDS, LIARS and selfish little THIEVES!

2. It's simple, they'll use the same ruse as always...

Tell people the reactors will only cost $400 million apiece, line everything up, then tell 'em the actual cost is $4 billion. Then when they've spent $4 billion, they'll ask for another $4 billion to finish construction. Then, when they've gone through that $8 billion, they'll ask for another billion plus for start-up costs.

The people who voted the frauds, liars and selfish thieves will fall for it.
