Here's how to help President Obama succeed. |
|
Sit down and email your Congress member and both Senators today and tell them you expect them to help President Obama achieve the goals he expressed today. Make it clear that they will not have your support unless they do. Be clear. Be emphatic. Let them hear from you.
Do it now!

I know we're both on the side of trying to make things work. I really appreciate that.

our Congressional delegation will go along with anything Obama does. It was that way when Minnick, an alleged Democrat, was my Congressman too.

If they get enough feedback like this, it might do something.

11. As we all know, the Republicans are going to listen to these e-mails. |
|
The Democrats can try as they might, but the Republicans now control the House.
When they didn't even have that on their side, we still couldn't do shit.
What's different this time?
If I click my heels together, will it make it happen?

12. Most will not. That does not relieve us of the responsibility |
|
to tell them what we think. You can do whatever you want, but I'd write to them. Fortunately, where I am, all three are Democrats I helped get elected. Not everyone has that luxury, I understand, but it's still a good idea.

I will do what I can to help. I still reserve the right to be critical as hell when he deserves it, but frankly, I'm impressed and ready to get back to work.

14. Do I have to tell Amy & Al this? I am just assuming they will back him. |
|
No Craavack is another matter. Unfortunately I don't think he has enough sense to listen when we tell him. I have gotten letters back that just defend his rw stance.

15. I think it's a good idea. I send them emails often. |
|
If they're specific enough, I get good answers back. I know they support President Obama in this, but I've already told them that I expect their full support. I'm sure they'll provide it. My congress member is Betty McCollum. She got an email, too, even though I know she's already in support. Nothing wrong with reinforcement.

17. Thanks, that means a personal letter. When I worked in Ed Medvinski's |
|
office in the 70s we considered one letter equal to the opinion of 40 voters. Don't know if that holds today.

18. I think those personal letters are very important. |
|
They are given more weight. I know that, because when I send a snail mail letter, I almost always get a real response.

19. Exactly what we need to do, instead of sniping. |
|
I said as much on another topic yesterday...if we Dems GET BEHIND HIM on this, the better chance of success. Republicans have it all over Dems in this regard. You seldom see rifts and division when when Republican power brokers offer up a plan. They are as ONE! (Maybe that's going to change as Teaparty idealogs challenge mainstream values...there's hope) There's ample evidence on these boards that Dems don't do it that way; they snark and beat their chests because the President doesn't have dictatorial power in a democracy. I've contacted my congressional delegation. Please, everyone, do the same!
Thanks MM
