Political commentator Tucker Carlson, filling in for Fox News host Sean Hannity Tuesday, told a news panel that he believes Michael Vick is not only undeserving of a second chance after being convicted on dog fighting charges, but that he deserves to die.

I don't think Vick deserves capital punishment, but nor does he deserve to be congratulated by the President of the United States.
The President seems to be more interested in football than in the fact that so many of Vick's dogs were sadistically drowned, hanged, electrocuted, and beaten to death.

25. my understanding Vick wasn't called-employer was called for giving Vick another chance. Explanation:

Pres. O would like employers to give former convicts a chance. If they don't have jobs, they will likely go back to hustling, stealing and other crimes. Vick represents a guy who was given a second chance and O called his employers, not Vick himself.

Of course, Vick is making millions whereas the average former con who gets a job washing dishes makes minimum wage, so it's not exactly the normal situation.

He never even spoke to him. He spoke to Jeffrey Lurie and congratulated him on the new green stadium and on giving an ex-con, Vick, a second change and said he hoped more businessmen would do the same for ex-cons. He also said he condemns what Vick did.

Can't you hate Obama at least based on facts? Is it really necessary to continue with what everyone should know is a lie by now?

Crime aside. People can and do change. I don't for one minute condone any part of dog fighting or Vick's role, but he paid his time and maybe one day he'll even donate to animal rescue/rights causes. After all, he's got a job that pays millions.

is a mystery to me. Not only is this politically tone deaf and stupid, it's morally disgusting. I don't understand what is commendable about the Eagles president giving Vick a job. The guy can play football and we know professional sports is about the money and little else.

Obama should either STFU or be giving praise to those that deserve it - those helping rescue animals in danger and other similar like minded volunteers, not the president of a major sports franchise looking out for how to win a championship. It's not as though Vick was wrongly convicted of horrific crime (or crimes I should say). He admitted it. And some crimes are just really reprehensible. He may have served his time, but it's not our obligation as a society to forgive him just yet.

Under our system of justice he was convicted...Under our justice system he was sentenced to prison. he served his time under the rules of America's justice system and under the rules of that system, he gets another chance at redemption... He served his fucking time....

I do not believe he should ever own another dog, but he certainly deserves the chance to play footbal again, he deserves to contribute to society again in a positive manner.
