Just a quick reminder... If you haven't filed your 2010 personal income tax return yet...
Please file by Monday, April 18th or submit an automatic extension (IRS Form 4868).

IMHO, Information Returns were not sent out like clockwork this year because of late changes by Congress.

Make sure you file a return or an extension by Monday.

2. If you ask for an extension, you also have to be sure you've paid what you likely owe.
You have to estimate what this will be, and if you owe rather than expect a refund, you have to pay by the 18th (or get the penalties, etc.).

3. Absolutely. But get a return or an extension in and if you believe that you owe after F/WH, etc
Send what you can.

But don't fall into the trap of not submitting anything. It is only a crime to not file. It is not a crime to not pay.

11. Agree, but my point was that a lot of people don't realize they are
Supposed to pay as well. They think an extension is all they need. Or some people think the point of the extension is to get time to pull the $ together.

7. And if you can't pay, file the extension anyway
penalties for late payment are worse than penalties for not filing plus penalties for late payment.

4. I mailed it yesterday......with an IOU.
I only have $25 right now, and owe them over $900. They say the penalties+interest are cheaper than paying with a credit card.

13. You are not alone. I plan on filing today.
I always put it off until the last minute because I usually have to pay.

10. How the fuck does one forget that April 15 is the deadline to file a tax return?
Do you forget Christmas too?

14. It's not the deadline this year, genius.
Christmas is always on 12/25. Tax day varies depending on whether the 15th is on a weekend and whether there is a state or local holiday on that day. Get a clue.

12. Thursday Kick
I swear that some people are so terrified of tax time that they develop a mental block.

You can run, but you can't hide. Get that return or 4868 in, folks!
