Wisconsin Dems Call For Further Investigation Of 2006 Waukesha County Elections

http://t.co/udyHxwu

I first read about this from a tweet

Did Kathy Nickolaus steal the election for #Wisconsin AG Van Hollen in 2006? http://t.co/A7HVBki #wiunion Sure looks like it!

Looks like no one has a good explanation....

I just love the idea that this recent theft has opened up the floodgates to all of their stolen elections.

Time to fix our election systems...so they will stop fixing our elections!

:applause:

13. They are looking into it...
Yet, when the Daily Kos blogger phoned the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board, he was told, “We are aware of it, we are looking into it, and we cannot comment on it.” These are hardly comforting words five years after the election in question.

and that is wherever they have a crooked overseer like Kathy Nicholaus meaning just about any pug in her position. Repug and crook are synonymous. It is the only way they can win to perpetuate even bigger crimes on the American people.

45. Cieran_WI - you asked when the clerk got her job?
1.) County clerk reshapes office in 1st year
Newcomer fights to retain staff and expands public services

I found this on the Brookfield Now local news site (you have to pay for the full article):

"Author: SCOTT WILLIAMS swilliams@journalsentinel.com, Journal Sentinel
Publication: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (WI)
Publish Date: November 14, 2003
Word Count: 770
Document ID: 0FED54F6EE135ADB

At a time when government elsewhere is retrenching and downsizing, Waukesha County's new county clerk is going against the grain.

Kathy Nickolaus, a newcomer to local politics, has marked her first year in office with a blizzard of ideas for expanding services in an office known for issuing marriage licenses and running elections.

She has renewed passport application services, made sample election ballots available on the Internet."

So it looks like her 1st year was 2003 or there about. Hope this helps.

34. State investigating vote irregularities in Waukesha County going back 5 years!
http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/govt-and-politics/elections/article_46644a68-6704-11e0-907e-001cc4c03286.html
The state's investigation into vote irregularities in Waukesha County will stretch back at least five years, the head of the Government Accountability Board said Thursday.

Questions over vote totals in Waukesha have lingered over the last week, after County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus announced she failed to report more than 14,000 votes from the city of Brookfield in initial vote totals.

The new total gave incumbent Supreme Court Justice David Prosser a lead of about 7,000 votes over challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg in the hotly contested state Supreme Court race. Official results in that race have not yet been announced.

Now questions have emerged over Nickolaus' published vote counts from as far back as the fall of 2006, when there were key statewide elections including races for governor and attorney general.

"This is part of what we're looking into. We have a lot of complaints," said Kevin Kennedy, the director and general counsel for GAB. "It's part of our investigation."

Kennedy said the board's current priority is determining the integrity of numbers reported in this spring's election but added that investigators are reviewing broader questions about Nickolaus and vote counting. Staff members from GAB have been in Waukesha County much of the week, and they were there again on Thursday, Kennedy said.

Additional questions surfaced after Nickolaus posted a note to the clerk's website this week explaining discrepancies between the total ballots cast in several elections and the votes for particular offices. In many cases, the number of votes totaled more than the number of ballots cast.

Hat tip to Brad Blog for this story!

50. I am still very
ignorant about this case. The chief general significance is that very few(if any) official election fixers have been even approached by the term accountability.

When the smoke from the fire has been so thick even the ignorant choke upon it.

When normal due process seems to demand investigation(even though politicians routinely have excepted themselves from that process by writing the legislation).

When outside investigators uncover evidence and even more stimulation for investigation.

At the end of the day is not changing the election results but changing the de facto lawlessness of election processes that only benefits crooks over the voter with some small privileged comfort to incumbent "honest?" Dems.

My redneck Va governor "got" about 60% the votes as McCain did yet I was one of the few at the polls when I went. Where did all those people swarming to the polls to vote for him like they did for McCain (but still lost!) go?

53. So what happens
If we find out she did alter the results of the AG election? Does that open up cases he prosecuted to the possibility of retrial? Does he get kicked out of office immediately and there is another election?

It seems fairly unprecedented to discover election fraud this late after someone has been in office this long - or maybe I'm unaware of it happening before.

At the very least, I have no doubt this woman would need to be put in jail, because it would be a tremendous waste of funds if the state ends up having to retry a bunch of cases because she couldn't keep her hands off the votes.

She's supposedly a rabid anti-abortion activist, and an Attorney General and a Supreme Court Justice would be two positions she would definitely want to have Republicans in.

It's pretty incredible that they could have turnout of 97.3%, or hell, really anything much over 90%. Countries with mandatory voting don't even get that high.
