Are you getting money back from the IRS this year?

I am but only after I changed the deduction on my paycheck earlier this year, but hey I will take it. Not a lot but enough to take me and the misses away for a weekend. :)

1. I don't know WTF I did but in '09 I ended up owing $1590 and for '10 only owe $6.

So I'm actually relieved.

I noticed a huge difference before I even put the deductions in (I use turbotax).

6. Yes, bur only because I have my paycheck adjusted to '0' deductions.

Last year I had to pay because my former employer
failed to follow my request (I always put '0').
That sucked a lot. I had to pay almost $1,000.
This year I got back almost $1,000 - but again
it's at '0' on my paycheck. I'm a single white
male with no dependents - so there you have it.

7. Little over $10K

Had an unusual year, with some abnormal medical costs and casualty losses. The additional deductions made a big difference.

8. $4k from the fed, $1500 from the state

And Turbotax says my effective tax rate is 6.8% I got no complaints.

16. Already did, it's in the bank, and that's a good thing as

we'll be paying for college tuition for 2 next year. Gawd, the younger 2 are destined to begin university, and we've saved, saved and saved again...

17. Had to pay them $13. BUT

this week I got an an unexpected check for almost $1000 from a place I worked 8 months ago (honest people are awesome), found $85 in an old purse today, and then found $21 in the back pocket of my shorts that I didn't know I had 10 minutes later, right before I mailed my $13 to the IRS.

Any surplus goes toward next year's tax payments.

to send a check this year.

Usually, it's real close, plus/minus a little, to zeroing out.

I'd rather get a big chunk back in the spring rather than the small dribble with each paycheck and make sure I always overpay.
