Among today's birthers, did any ever voice support of change so Schwarzenegger could be Prez?

Among people who are now birthers, did any say on the record that the Constitution should be amended so that American citizens who weren't born in the USA wouldn't be prohibited from becoming President?

Only a major research project could justify a "No" answer, but maybe somebody on DU can suggest a line of investigation that could allow confirmation of a "Yes" answer.

I believe it is ABSOLUTELY fair to chase down what opinions certain public figures in government and the media might have had regarding Schwarzenegger back in the day .... and see how they square with their rhetoric in the here and now ....

that would seem to be consistent with them wanting confirmation of Obama's US birth.

They would say "Yes if we wanted a guy who wasn't born in the USA to run for president
we would change the constitution before nominating him, not try to sneak him past the process".

Not that that would make total sense because, first of all it's obvious that Schw. was born in Austria and
that Obama was born in Hawaii.

If they had decided that changing the constitution was not only convenient, but also the right thing to do, then why didn't they continue to pursue the change after they lost interest in Schwarzenegger as a potential Republican nominee for a Presidential campaign? Also, isn't it a good idea for a long and uncertain constitutional amendment process to be completed before they have a candidate in mind? Moreover, what about an independent candidate? Shouldn't a candidate who isn't affiliated with any party have the same opportunity that they wanted to give to Schwarzenegger? As a matter of short-range tactical thinking, wouldn't the Republicans like to see a foreign-born version of Ralph Nader siphoning votes from the Democratic Party?

Republicans are nothing if not hypocritical.

A naturalized citizen arguably chose the US on their own, so there's some good argument that they would not necessarily be wrong for the Presidency. But then they'd be demanding Obama get himself naturalized, so they could poke holes in that process. Ahnuld's would be just fine.

IOW, they black man has to meet the higher standard. Never did they demand McDope's BC, they just accepted that he was born here. It's the black guy whose birth has to be proven to a higher standard.
