May 22, 2011... the Great Disappointment of the 21st century

So I wonder how many people will wake up on the 22nd and wonder what the hell they are doing here still?

Boys and girls there is this scriptural problem still, about not knowing the time or moment of my return, but that is another matter.

I AM looking forwards to the 22nd of this month...

8. The last time it led to a few of that
but far less than you think... it was more like the END of the Second Great Revival... over the course of the next two years. Some folks did do that though, but it is a sin... so most preferred to stay among the unwashed and unsaved. Of course we also got a whole new religion out of it (Mormonism)

Those are amongst the oldest insects in the geological record. Most species average 100K years... they have been around, one form or another, for a few million... more than a few million...

Oh wait, sciency stuff. I WILL burn in hell for that!

I wonder how many Rapture days have been scheduled since then. Or how many before then.

30. I remember that one...
Some nicely dressed ladies were still handing out tracts about it a few weeks after at the Pike Place Market in Seattle. I tried to engage them in conversation but they were just silent and stony faced - wouldn't say anything beyond hello. It was very weird - weird enough that I remember it 25 years later.

21. Harold Camping has been making these wacky predictions for fifty years
The number 5 equals "atonement". Ten is "completeness". Seventeen means "heaven".

Christ hung on the cross April 1, 33 A.D., Now go to April 1 of 2011 A.D., and that's 1,978 years.

Then multiply 1,978 by 365.2422 days - the number of days in each solar year, not to be confused with a calendar year.

April 1 to May 21 encompasses 51 days. Add 51 to the sum of previous multiplication total, and it equals 722,500.

(5 x 10 x 17) x (5 x 10 x 17) = 722,500.

Or put into words: (Atonement x Completeness x Heaven), squared.

Granted, it's a stretch, but figures don't lie!

It's goal is simpler: I get atonement, completeness, and heaven; all three!

We had a little bit of this in the 60's, dawning of the age of Aquarius and all.
All of these Rapture-ists are out of their minds with self delusions.

I suspect no, you don't. This is why it is a super mega fail.

I could refer to a few other times when Messiahs did not come and left behind a disappointed people who were READY. But within American History the one I referred to is the best known.

36. This is religious trite nonsense...
and according to the website:

THE END OF THE WORLD IS ALMOST HERE!
HOLY GOD WILL BRING JUDGMENT DAY ON
MAY 21, 2011

"JUDGMENT DAY is feared by the world and is the day that God will destroy the world because of the sins of mankind. The world is correct in believing that Judgment Day will come. The Bible gives us the correct and accurate information about that Day."

MegasuperFAIL.

I understand and I am aware of the past predictions that never came to past, and yet here we are in the 21st century and people are still waiting for the nonexistent to magically appear and whisk them away to candyland.

is a super fail exactly how?

Or are we in agreement essentially that we should party like it is 1999 on both the 21st of this year and in 2012, fully cognizant that next day it is back to the grinder?

43. Some will be momentarily convinced
that they were "left behind".

For the math challenged, according to the Bible, Christ was born (#1), then died and was resurrected (#2). The whole "second coming" thing happened 2000 years ago.
